This guy might have attended Darkness Day once, and overheard some guys talking about bottles being sold on _________ or _________ for a premium. The lightbulb (small led or flashlight sized) went off in his head, and he started asking his buddies about OTHER beers that were highly sought after. He ran to his local store, and saw the driver carrying in green boxes...HOPSLAM!

He called his buddy, who asked if there was any limit. LIMIT? Like...they might only ALLOW you to buy a LIMITED QUANTITY? Whoa...JACKPOT! He must be crazy, spending that much money on beer that day. Yeah...crazy like a Donald Trump FOX he was.

Rubbing his hands together, described and carefully crafted his Craigslist ad. I think he started them out at 50 bucks a six pack, then 35...and now, A YEAR LATER (bad barleywine, anyone?) he's almost
down to break even at 20 bucks a sixer. This ad has been listed over a dozen times now. Thought you guys might want to see if "Its still available?"

Sounds like he has enough to take care of us all!

I'd feel bad for him if it weren't for the fact that anyone treating beer as an investment mechanism deserves to get burned.

I emailed the guy, but haven't heard back yet... I hope I wasn't too condescending?

You do realize that you will never sell any of that beer, correct? Hopslam is a beer that is best consumed fresh. Hell, there are people complaining that this years batch (1/09/13) was already three weeks old when it went on sale this past Monday. Three weeks old!! And contrary to a naively held belief, Double India Pale Ales do not turn into barleywines with age. Consider this a lesson learned, an experiment in cross pollination of the Beanie Baby culture and craft beer, right next to that pile of Pogs I'm sure you're still trying to unload.

    Prost!

Yes, you can't mark it up that high unless you are a bar/restaurant.

Oh, come on. Like none of you guys needs a case of 2012 to complete your Hopslam case vertical.

I would avoid any bar/restaurant that is trying to pawn off year old Hopslam at any price, let alone at huge markup. Stay away from the dinner "Specials" at any place like that.

Why couldn't this genius have spent all that money on Schells Burton? I'd help make him a rich man right now!

You guys think he'd be willing to part with a sixer of this rare, ambrosia of hopiness for a few empty bottles of Darkness? I like my chances.

Harsh? I didn't even sharpen my tongue, I went with the General Audiences version. This guy has had this add (or various versions) up for nearly a year.
