"There has not been a change in law or regulation. The labeling law (section 25200 of the California Business and Professions Code) requires that any container of beer (including growlers) shall have a label on it that correctly identifies the manufacturer and bottler of the beer. After a discussion of the issues, ABC has determined that an existing label on a growler may be covered with a new label reflecting information that correctly identifies the product. For this to be compliant, however, the new label must fully cover an old label such that the brand, alcohol information, and name/address of the manufacturer and bottler is accurately reflected, and the old (now incorrect) information is obscured.

I like the idea, but that text is really hard to read.

Now we just need to get the word out to the breweries regarding such law. Will they be willing to print lables and cover another breweries growler?

Heck, I'd be willing to pre-cover a growler to have it filled.

From what I understand, a lot of breweries do understand this law. They are just very weary of doing it incorrectly and getting fined or have to deal with other ramifications.

Also, I can imagine that the money made of off the sale on the glassware is an income most breweries probably don't want to lose.

I mean, I got that. But that makes the image kinda pointless, no?

Like I said, I like the idea of some creative piece of collateral that can help us get growlers filled.

Laminate this bad boy and carry it into a brewery any time you want your growler filled. If they give you shit, shove it in their face.

65 bones for a growler! I like the idea of splurging every now and then but damn!

Funny, most of my growlers don't have the address or ABV on them. Guess these breweries hiding behing "IT'S THE LAW BRO" aren't following the law.

That's not just funny, that's fucking hilarious. Is any brewery following the law? I don't think I've ever gotten a beer >6% that had the ABV on it.

I get growlers around Sacramento with ABV written on them, but I think local breweries go out of their way to follow the letter of the law as we have ABC HQ in our backyard. ABC training happens here, so breweries all know that they are getting far more visits from enforcement folks than any other breweries in the state.

$65 is quite spendy. But if I knew I could walk into any brewery in CA and get it filled I'd consider splurging on that one though. I have probably $65 worth of various growlers in a cupboard right now.

Cant wait to be able to get a Brauler...

That will be my dream day

Stainless Steel with being able to hit it with CO2 to keep it fresh!!

I would start buying a LOT more growler fills!!

Beachwood LB always writes the beer name and the ABV with the grease pencil right on the bottle.
