Try it one more time but reverse the order and have the NN first.

Oh good, we've moved on from these two bottles I drank next to each other tasted different to last year's version was better. Wonder what's next.

I had a few more bottles over the weekend of the 1/8 batch. I don't see in any world where anyone could say they were bad. For me, they were delicious. Were they "stellar" or the "best batch ever"? No, but still really, really good.

I have 4 bottles left of 1/17/13 from the case I returned, because I felt weird returning a sixer that had 2 bottles missing. If there is someone who is curious to what people are complaining about, or wants to do a comparison of the batches, I'll be happy to donate a bottle to you, I live in Cape May County, NJ. I know I have no interest in drinking this thing that is labelled Nugget Nectar, that looks but doesn't taste or smell like Nugget Nectar. I would like to try a good batch, but that is not necessary for my offer. One string attached though, put down your thoughts of the beer on this thread. I'm a long time fan of Nugget Nectar, and I think I know what it tastes like but... just in case I want to open it up some doubters and curious types. PS I did email the company but have heard nothing from them.

I finished the rest of my 1/8 NN sixer this weekend, and I have to say my posts here were a little overreacted. Still a fine beer. It does have a little more juicy hop flavor than I first perceived. I think, as others have touched on, that it's flaw is in the finish. It doesn't pop. It kind of just settles, like a stale IPA. It's a quality brew but it didn't match up to the hype or my past experiences with it. Just my two cents.

As a FYI, JMSRN posted a couple of times that his 1/17/13 batch of NN was ‘off’:

“I have a case from 1/17 and it's definitely off, similar to what Slentz experienced above. Contacted Troegs and they are swapping out the case for me. Great customer service.”

“Just to give an update on my experience - I kept one bottle from the case I had replaced and did a side by side with one from the new case I picked yesterday (the batch # escapes me, but I think best buy date was 5/5/2013). To my palate, there was a noticeable difference between the two, with the new case being more enjoyable. Definite difference in the aroma and hop presence.”

Since Troegs provided JMSRN with a replacement of the 1/17 batch hopefully they will do the same for you?

    Cheers!

So kegs should be arriving(or have already arrived) this week?

Also, has anyone in Center City Phila seen any bottles with February dates stamped on?

Wait a minute, wait a minute. I don't think any sane BA poster has said any of the NN has "sucked" this year. There has only been some alleged complaints about consistency and various hoppiness. No NN will ever be "watered down", Troegs is just too good a brewery to do that. Just be clear on that.

Buy whatever you come across this year, I bet you are NOT disappointed.

Had a couple bottles from a 1/31 batch. A letdown-- it's like they forgot to dry-hop it or something (?). Going to try and get a sixer from a different batch to compare.

i've had bottles dated 1/16 & 1/17.. the 1/17 was a tad more bitter upon initial sip out of the fridge, but as it warmed it went away.. the 1/16 didn't have that as much but is still there.. besides that it tastes great to me, better than last years batches anyway.

The bitterness i'm describing also isn't the hop kind of bitter, it's that dry aspirin like bitter, but as mentioned it fades away when the beer warms up closer to room temp

Just want to go on record and say that the batch of DOB's 1-30-13 was delicious. As good as NN has ever been. Hoping we can get some fresh batches delivered to MD before NN season is over. Cheers!
