No picture available but I'm currently kicking back to an episode of South Park and a delicious Arrogant Bastard Ale poured carefully out of a 22 oz bottle into a 24 oz chilled mug

Starting with Abita's Mardi Gras Bock (a week late, but my Cajun roots tell me, "Laissez les bons temps rouler."). Then I've got Harpoon Rye IPA, Paulaner Salvator, Spanish Peaks Big Bite IPA (750mL), and my main interest of the group - Gulden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer. Not a bad lineup, If I may say! Cheers.

$5 for Maharaja!? I paid $10 for a bomber, so I'd buy several if its $5. The vintage year is actually printed on the label, so of it says 2013, it's fresh.

Just had a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, best by 6/15/13, really really good.

Living in NY, and not being a beer trader, I didn't think I'd ever get my hands on one of these, but I did - a 4-pack, in fact:
    Heady Topper DIPA
Being a good soldier, I followed orders and drank it from the can, "cold but not ice cold" - but it wasn't rocking my world, so I broke ranks and poured it into a tulip. Sorry, but I wanted to see it.
    For the curious:

This is the #1 beer in the world (as far as ratings on this site are concerned). A very bitter, hop-forward DIPA - good, by all accounts, but better than all the other beers out there? Not in this BA's opinion. Throw your tomatoes and rotten garbage at me if you must, but I suspect that the expectations are raised so high that the beer can't possibly meet them. I was expecting to be blown away, life changed, world-view inverted, et. al. - instead it was "merely" a good DIPA.

Then again, I have 3 more in the fridge, so maybe I'll change my mind later...

Let me be the first to say that I admire your honestly in displaying your feelings about a beer that many hold in high regard. It takes courage and the ability to remain calm and focused to defend your position. And not to put these words in your mouth, but mine, I am glad to be the BA that does not follow the main road. If I may, you also follow that road or a variation of it.

So many salutes! Oh and thanks for trying that Verdi I mentioned. I did see you post a picture of it! :grinning:

Pretty good, but nothing mind-blowing. It's growing on me. Seems like the majority of the tropical fruit hops are in the aftertaste, which is weird but kind of awesome.

This song never gets old. Love Edward Sharpe.

Feel like this is what Lake Erie Monster was before it hit bottles when it was pub only. Very nice.

It takes courage and the ability to remain calm and focused to review a beer? I think you might be taking this whole thing a bit too seriously.

Thanks for the kind words, Giovanni. Oh, and dude, the Verdi was fantastic - I've gone back for it, like, three times (in the span of a little over a month).
