Bought a 6-pack of Blackrocks 51K for the going rate - $10.99 (checked the batch# as well to make sure it wasn't too old). One of the few beers they don't mark up.

I only buy what they don't mark up based on principle. Because of this, they only get about 5-10% of my business. I could completely shut them out because they mark up a lot of their beers, but they are the closest place to home and convenient for me. In the meantime I let them know consistently when I've bought beer they have on the shelves for cheaper and I tell them how much I paid for it and where it was. I am sure I am not even close to one of their favorite customers because I call them out. They know I spend most of my money elsewhere, but I can't see a day when it's going to change their pricing.

    You had me at 51k...

But seriously, that's pretty much my same problem. I buy a majority of my beer from my local store that doesn't jack up prices but when he doesn't get Hopslam, KBS, or whatever then I'll take a hit and go to the overpriced **** store and pay extra.

I may have missed it in another thread, but where is Freedom of 78? Am I early? Late? Did I miss it? Always seems like it hits very early in the year... I had always wished it would be more of a Summer release. Anyone?

So, I was browsing the Short's website since I've got two months until vacation (and now comes the time of year where I drive my wife up the wall) and checked out the pub menu, even though I just about have it memorized. I noticed that Tears for Eddie is gone, replaced by Loop de Loop. So, even though it's not necessarily a beer update, Tears for Eddie was a tradition for me to order every visit since the first time I set foot in the the pub.

So, RIP Tears for Eddie. I'll raise a glass or five to ya.

So we always got tears for eddie as well, but let me tell ya loop de loop is a more than worthy replacement!

My only hope is that this thread will outlast all that is available in Michigan. Hopstache is available! Just gotta poke around.

Stay tuned for more details and additional events.

P.S. Don’t worry out-of-state Short’s fans. Like our other seasonal releases, Nicie will be making the journey to your neck of the woods"

The rebranding is interesting and eye catching (I think this is what, the third Nicie Spicie brand?), but personally I'm gonna pass. Unless there really is less Spicie to it, I find the aftertaste too hot to enjoy more than one. Guess I'll grab some Beard of Zeus.

Something new brewing at the pub, from Short's website:

    https://www.shortsbrewing.com/real-ale-blog/

"We’re doing something new at the pub these days, something REAL tasty and REAL cool that weREALly want you to know about. It’s time to make your way to the pub for your first taste of REAL ale! We’re now brewing up and serving REAL or cask conditioned ales from the new bar in our latest expansion.
    [snip]

With our latest expansion came the addition of not one, not two, but three beer engines to our new bar! These beer engines are already hard at work and have been serving real ale to thirsty Short’s fans for the past few weeks. Arguably the best outcome of adding beer engines and real ale to our menu? The new avenues for small batch creativity afforded to our brewers. So far, some of our favorite selections have included Cask Conditioned Coffee and Vanilla Bean Bellaire Brown and A Tribe Called Zest.

These brews go fast and we’re always cueing up the next cask. Jack said it best, “Come on in and try our wonderful ales and beers served in the traditional old style. You best get there soon because they disappear very very quickly. Cheers…”"

    Shorts,

I'll accept 3 weeks from bottling dates to make it 175 miles from the brewery for these IPA specialty releases (reluctantly), but if this happens with your wet hop ale (Kind ale) in October it will definitely be nothing short of a failure......

I'm not sure if this is a scheduling mishap and the beers sit bottled in your possesion or they sit in the distribution warehouse awaiting delivery, but either way please do not disappoint!!!!

Wouldn't be surprised if they put Kind ale in bombers then claim they don't make money off it.

So, just saw this today on Busch's FB page, was announced the 25th:

"We teamed up with Short's Brewing Company to bring you a delicious crisp, summer beer and IT'S HERE! Just in time for those long weekend celebrations, pick up your 6-pack of this special release today!
    Cheers!"

Get to a Busch's if you can. Just cracked my first and it's completely killing in this heat. This is a grilling, just mowed, at the beach, hanging at the ball game brew. Oh, and the Busch's closest to me also had quite a few MMB left (6 and Newburgh) . Picked up a six of that, too.
They also had sixers of Snake Juice, Goodnight Bodacious, Mr Fusion, and (I'm not shitting you) Juicy Tree. Singles of each plus Uncle Steve's and Evil Urges.
