LOOK: Rich brown with some red hues. About a finger's worth of light tan head when poured into a shaker glass.

NOSE: Coffee. Just coffee.

TASTE: I'm just getting coffee. That's the one and only note here. It doesn't complement any other flavors, it's just the only thing there.

FEEL: A much lighter body than I'd expect for something billed as a porter. Maybe it'd work if billed as a brown?

A: [4.00] The beer looks black - but is a really deep ruby red when held up to the light. The pour forms a 1/2 finger khaki head. The head dissipates quickly leaving some tan traces on the surface. The beer has a born on date of 11/03/14. The bottle lists a lot of organic ingredients and the origins on the coffee beans - but not the ABV. C'mon guys it is like 4 characters of text x.x%

S: [4.50] Boom! It is a coffee bomb. In your face with the coffee. I can't get any other notes on the nose. I am not complaining - just observing.

T: [4.25] The taste follows the nose. Big burst of coffee up front. However, it then slides into a malty sweet flavor - without the coffee. The coffee makes a subtle return on the aftertaste.

M: [3.50] The body is a bit thin and watery. It is a lower ABV beer and I think that shows most here.

O: [4.00] I really like a coffee forward stout. This fits into that category. They were not shy with the coffee flavor. The main gripe is the watery mouthfeel. It is hard to avoid on a low ABV porter. Overall I really like this. I would like to have it again.

This is a very tasty coffee Porter! If you're big on that strong coffee taste in a beer you will really like this one! It's delicious!

Bottle says 102714. Pours a very dark ruby red (almost but not quite black - hold it up to a strong light) with a one-finger tan head. Not much lacing to speak of.

This is one smooth porter. Maybe it's the vanilla, but there is no roughness to this at all. The predominant impression is, of course, roasted malts and coffee - but there's a definite sweet undertone and just a hint of chocolate. Moderate carbonation. Full-bodied and almost oily mouthfeel.

Really enjoyable.

Excellent blend of a roasty porter with a real solid coffee note. Wonderful balance, and one of the best, most natural coffee additions I have had the pleasure of trying. All-around outstanding brew.

this beer closely reminds me of surly's cacao bender only it comes in a 6 pack! if you're not ready for the vanilla I can see why some people might not love it, but I think it is restrained enough to still be very good. overall the base beer is good too. it's a little too sweet to be perfect in my book, but still very good. I will buy it again.

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass. Bottleneck says 102714.

A- Pours a 99% opaque black color with a 1/4 inch dark tan head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a small center patch of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind

S- Bold coffee aroma that's slightly sweet and has some light vanilla, chocolate and caramel notes. Medium roastiness.

T- A little sweeter than the aroma lets on with the coffee being more complementary to the overall flavor rather than being the driving force. The malt roastiness is also pretty middle-of-the-road providing a good backdrop for the coffee to play off.

M- Standard porter feel with medium carbonation and a fullish body.

O- An above average coffee porter that I'm glad I purchased a full sixer of since it satisfies my coffee beer cravings without breaking my wallet. Recommended.

A: deep brown; - a touch of ruby at the edges; less than a 1 finger light brown head that receded to a thick cap; OK lacing;

S: roasted grains; coffee grounds;

T: follows the nose; light bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: coffee grounds is not a flavor I want;

Nice, deep chocolate brown color keeping out the light !!. Aroma is of chocolate and a back of coffee(thought it would be the other way around !!). Head is minimal and lacing is ok ! Taste is nice of roasted coffee infused with a bit of fine bittersweet chocolate. The feel is thick and chewy and this beer lingers around for quite awhile, Nice !!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure I've a some stuff from this brewery before and they were competent. This too.

It's brown with a little fizz and hardly any lacing. The aroma is good but not strong - coffee and roasted malts. Nice.

The taste similarly is a nice balance roasty coffee but a little weak on the Porter malts. The finish is sweet and clean.

This a quality product and reasonably priced.

This is a fantastic, organic, non-GMO beer. Has a nice coffee taste and aroma and I would absolutely purchase this again. Just a great porter!

Bottom Line: Organic never tasted so good!

One of the most coffee forward beers I've ever had. A light stout but despite the extreme coffee nose and taste it was well balanced. No ashiness, roastiness. Also minimal chocolate. Definitely worth a try.

A: (3/3) dark brown almost black with thin dry brown head
S: (9/12) pretty strong coffee with some roasted malt, vanilla is noticeable, but not as strong
T: (16/20) very clean but flavorful profile: coffee and vanilla mingle but the bitter coffee seems a little stronger
M: (4/5) pretty light bodied for a porter, about as close to a soda as you can get with such a dark beer, but I think that’s mostly because of the carbonation
O: (7/10) A good, solid beer, and pairs nicely with most desserts, especially if you’re not looking for a death-by-richness experience.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Lawson's tulip.

a: Opaque black with slight ruby highlights at the bottom when seen through light. Half finger thick tan head receded to thin patchy surface foam and spotty lacing.

s: Slight cold black coffee. Vanilla takes over as it warms.

t: Black coffee and dark smoky malt with some light hop bite. Slightly bitter finish later leavened by increasing vanilla notes

m: Light to medium, ok body, smooth, some carbonation tingle.

o: A very good coffee porter, well balanced and pleasant, especially after the vanilla kicks in and mellows it out. The best of the few organic brews I have had.

Whoa this is a chocolate coffee vanilla bomb! Good vt porters are usually much harder to attain than this. I will continue to buy this for as long as I can find it!

A- Pours black with a light beige head.
S- Coffee and chocolate upfront, smells like really good beans.
T- Not as bold as the aroma, slight bitterness from the coffee gives way to a light kiss of coco and it that remains briefly after each sip. As it warms the chocolate flavor is turned up. Light vanilla on the back of the tongue.
M- Starts out creamy then the carbonation helps coax all the flavors through out
O- Tasty coffee porter, reminds me a lot of a Jr breakfast stout.

Look: Black. No light shines though. Just perfect pitch black. With a gentle pour, not much head in generated.

Smell: Dark roasted coffee. Dark chocolate. This smells like pure coffee. Likely the strongest coffee aroma I've ever smelled in a beer. It might be stronger than the coffee I make in the morning. I'm not picking up much more in the aromas other than coffee.

Taste: The coffee flavor is very upfront, but not as strong in the flavor as the aroma would suggest. Certainly some dark chocolate flavors. I'm not getting much vanilla.

Feel: Very smooth, mild carbonation, and medium-full bodied.

Overall: This was always one of my favorite coffee beers. glad to see it back on the shelves. I say this a lot but, it's a good "go-to" beer.

Very good, but wow, that is a lot of coffee flavor for the non coffee person. Overwhelming coffee kept it from being outstanding.

Solid porter base supports extremely well-balanced medium roast coffee with just the right amount of vanilla in the background. Enjoyable nose. Absolutely delicious.

Alta Gracia Coffee Porter is a beer I am very anxious to taste as Porters are my current favorite style, I am a coffee fiend, and an advocate of all things organic. It's appearance is lovely and suitable, a deep oily brown with a 1/4" tan head of suds siting on top. I found the aroma to be very very sweet and fresh, definitely a pleasant surprise. A vanilla aspect is dominant and there are hints of roasted malts and coffee beans in the background. The flavor itself is filled with creamy, sweetened coffee, toasted grains, and the slightest sweet citrus touch as well. I'm impressed in regards to the coffee flavor - how it comes through and the quality of it. This is a very balanced beverage, it has a light and silky mouthfeel, and is the perfect summer libation for those who shun the season's typical choices.

12 oz. bottle poured into a stout glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep brown with a very short tan head that disappears quickly. Not much lacing.

Aroma: There's vanilla, coffee, hazelnut, dark chocolate, some lactose-like notes, and minimal hop bitterness. Smells good.

Taste: Now this is a darn good porter. Vanilla and coffee dominate the taste. The coffee really comes through in a delicious, full-bodied way. The taste is closer to actual black coffee than most coffee porters and stouts. This is really terrific; bitterness on the finish is perfect.

Mouthfeel: The depth of body is spot-on.

Overall: Excellent coffee porter. One of the best I've had of the style. Another win for the breweries of northern New England.

Coffee is obviously the star of the show here but it comes across well balanced in both aroma and taste. The aroma hits upfront with coffee but is quickly balanced by a creamy, slightly sweet vanilla scent that nicely tones down the bitterness of the coffee. Maybe a slight hint of chocolate in there too. The taste essentially echoes the aroma note for note, maybe just a tad more coffee in the taste though. Mouth feel is medium to slightly full bodied , a bit of creaminess, nicely carbonated.

Not much of a head on this one and a light lacing on the glass. A nice, dark, practically black coloration. I can smell the coffee and vanilla. Taste is excellent, much like the scent, Coffee with a hint of vanilla and very light on the alcohol taste. A bit of a mocha type aftertaste. Delicious.
