Half litre on draught. Golden, clear, large foamy head, left some lacing.

S: Saaz hop which became more pronounced.

T: Initial malty sweetness gave way to malty bitterness. Had the Saaz notes expected from a Czech beer.

M: Crisp texture, low carbonation.

O: Very nice refreshing session lager, not complex or bursting with exotic hops but perfect to drink at lunchtime in a Prague pub.

500ml can - an overseas ex-girlfriend of mine recently came back to visit family, and she brought me a few samples of the stuff that I used to quaff with her Dad, decades ago. Thanks, Petra, and na zdravi!

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves some random streaky lace around the glass as it quickly sinks out of sight.

It smells of gritty and crackery pale malt, a hint of toasted bread, faint pome fruity notes, some ethereal lager yeast, and plain earthy, leafy, and grassy green hop bitters. The taste is bready and grainy cereal malt, an estery yeastiness, muddled apple and pear skin, and more subtle leafy, herbal, and grassy hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its palate-coating frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, with nothing really existing here that might be any cause for concern. It finishes off-dry, the general graininess seeing us out the front door.

Overall - this comes across as a very normal lager, and not exactly the crisp, zingy Saaz-y offerings that I think of when considering Czech-made brew. It's flavourful enough, I suppose, but I'm happy to have just the one serving of this particular jaunt down memory lane.

Classic one. Back in the days we always used to have these little pallets of cans 24x0,33l for our Sessions..(My buddy constantly brought them in from CZ these days!) And that is exactly what this beer is: a good session beer. Got the 500ml can BBD 20.08.18. Looks good in the glass: Very lively. Straw colour. Nice head that soon disappears. No special Aromas. Little floral. Nice to drink. Good carbonation and hoppy aftertaste.

A- Dark straw in color. Crystal clear. Head is white, but dies quickly. A little lacing.

S- Toasty, grassy and some grain. Some sweet biscuit.

T- Clean toast and grain. Some grassy/earthy notes.

M- Light body and clean from start to finish.

O- Quite bland.

Appearance: Good lacing. Typical lager colour. Average carbonation.

Smell: Light aroma of floral hops and malt. Pleasant.

Taste: Light taste consisting of mild bitterness and sweet malt flavour. Floral Saaz hops are detectable.

Overall a good example of a 10 degree plato Czech lager typically producing around 4% alcohol . A light but somewhat flavouful lager.

Gambrinus Original 10º (4,3 abv), 500 ml bottle

Very nice, clearly. It's absolutely well-balanced, and it finishes clean and dry. I love this beer. This is one of my favourite Czech...

Therefore I advise you to drink it as soon as possible. ;-)

It was my first review, sorry for the shortness.

Gambrinus Original 10º
330ml can

Appearance: Quite nice. Clear, straw gold body beneath a massive head of frothy white that rises out of the glass a bit. Very good head retention and lacing.

Smell: Basic beer. A little malt, a little hops... mixed, balanced, without anything really standing out.

Taste: As the aroma suggests, this is a fairly basic lager. The malt is light and clean, and I'm sorry but I have to compare it to American Budweiser. It's not a malty Czech pils, but a more tamed down Euro lager (it is just 4.3% abv). There is more bitterness than Bud, however, but really not that much. Where it goes beyond American Budweiser is in hop flavor. It's got far more pleasant noble hop flavor. It's well-balanced, and it finishes clean and dry.

Mouthfeel: Light-medium in body and crisp with a fine, median carbonation.

Overall: A refreshing, easy to drink Euro lager. Clean and simple.

Another beer picked up in Prague, enjoyed in Tel Aviv, in a can too!

Pours a huge fluffy fizzy almost 3 finger head that fades fairly slowly, nice lacing too, crystal clear light tan colored beer.

Nose light straw pilsner malts, little macro like lager unhappy lager aroma, light corn mash, touch of tin, and fainy grassy hop, and touch of an adjunct sweetener.

Taste starts with a sweet malt mash, some corn flavored mash, light toasty pilsner malt, mild sweetness. Then into lager, a bit of unhappy macro lager poor flavor, corn mashed adjunct flavor. Faint grassy hops. Finish is drier but bit sticky, more unhappy lager flavors, touch of sulfur, light grassy hops, little more corn mash.

Mouth is lighter bod, decent carb.

Overall not very good, on the macro end of the beers, lots of not so great flavors.
