A slight variation of the porter style in that we used beechwood smoked malt in a portion of the grist. This lends a distinctive smoke character to the taste and aroma. We also use Munich, Caramel, and Chocolate malt in this beer. The hop character comes through a little in the aroma, but is mostly in the bitterness to balance the intense malt character. 5.8% alcohol, by volume.

Draft. A deep, dark brown with some red thrown in. Malt, caramel, and smoke permeate the nose. Medium carbonation with a rich mouthfeel. Smoked malt, honey, caramel, and burnt sugar show up on my tongue. A hint of peat too. There is some bitterness, but it is pretty overpowered by the sweetness. Not bad, but a little out of balance on the sweet side.

Well if you are looking for a smoke porter this is not you bag. More of a sweet porter but with half the body missing. It looks fine with a dark body and a creamy head but looks are deceiving as I knew from the smell that this was anyhting but a smoked porter. Their is a hint of smoked no real balls here, even Stone's horrible smoked porter is better and that was near the worst I've ever had. Like I said earlier this is limp wristed in the body and I had a hard time finishing this one.

Poured from the tap at the bar in Brewer's Alley Restaurant & Brewery into a pint style glass. They had a great 10th anniversary party and this went very well with the pizza, and chocolate cake that was also excellent, Noticely better then your average cake.

The beer is an opaque dark brown. Not much head but I never seem to get much head when I go there anyway. (from the beer, what are you thinking). I think the bar tender try not to pour much head.

the smell was malty and smoky, but not like real smoky, real mild.

The taste was mild smoky and very malty. Really pretty good. It was quite enjoyable.

The mouth feel was good but not great. could use more carbonation.

Drinkability was good to better. the mild smoke in a porter was very nice.

On tap at the 10th anniversary celebration.
Served an opaque dark brown color, no head. Aroma is burnt grain and smoke. Take is predominantly smoke character with a hint of coffee thrown in. Seemed a bit thin and watery. Aftertaste is dry and the burnt grain and smoke flavor linger. OK offering. Could use a bit more body.
