This is a very special type of beer. It is about as strong as they come. We actually brewed this beer using a sour-mash technique, and then fermented it beer with our house ale strain. After a short conditioning period in the fermentor, the beer was moved into kegs for long-term storage. So this beer can be considered "keg conditioned". It typically requires many months of maturation before it reaches its peak flavor balance. This beer could be considered an aperitif, or it can be enjoyed with a meal. 10.5% alcohol, by volume.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a moderate ruby color with an off white head. Nose is pretty sweet with a bit of light, sugared fruits, brown sugar, and hints of caramel. Taste isn't as intricate, relying mostly on some sweet malt and a dash of booze. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel with a bit of heat. Drinks pretty well. My first offering from them.

Wow this barleywine is yawn. Barely hopped at all the nose on it like smelling a sack of crystal malt. The taste is of high number roasted crystal malt. The body is weak-knee and it is only saved I think by being served on cask which helps give it a creaminess. It is a very dark ruby color and has a good head that hang out. Not a very good offering.
