Copenhagen 22/5 2020. 75 cl clear glass bottle showcasing the weird color of this beer. From LetzShop, Gammel Kongevej, Frb. C. A mountain with an Olympian face raising beer glass on the label.
Pours clear green with big white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Massive lacing.
Aroma is fairy intense with sweet, lemonade-ish odor mingling with strong herbal scent. Orange and peach. White sugar. Mint. Sweet vermouth. Herbal. I Presume it is the Génépi peeking in.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily, bit greasy, tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with strong and bit cloying sweetness followed by a moderately strong sourness. Aftertaste is sweet and overwhelmingly herbal and perfumed. Lingers for a while. Finish is sticky and sweet.
Looks fantastic - but but does not have much in common with beer.

From bottle, pours limes green with a small white head that disapates to a thin ring. Aroma lime, herbs, soda. Taste slightly herbal, lime soda, sweet and fizzy. Very different. It's ok in its self for what it is.

A: The beer is clear light green in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down but never completely faded away.
S: Moderate aromas of herbs are present in the nose—thyme seems to stand out in particular—which I presume must be the Genépi.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of thyme.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation.
O: This beer is very interesting—I haven't had a green beer since I had a nettle beer in Prague.
Serving type: bottle

La verte du Mont Blanc is one of these beer for fooled tourist. It's green, yeah for sure it is, the Génépi seems very artificial (so does the colour by the way). Completely out of balance this watery sweet adjunct beverage is not worth your trying

Green, like kool aide green, fairly filtered, little carbonation, a finger of whitish head that fades fast.
Skunk, malt, sour dough, slight vegetal quality, green kool aide.
Sweet, skunky, sour, artificial sweetener like bitterness, watery, some herbal quality in the nose, artificial sweetener again and again. What is this???
Light and watery but leaves a substance like sour and artificial sweetness on the tongue. Moderate soda like carbonation.
Found in CNX, drank June 12, 2015. Really struggling to enjoy this one. It feels all wrong in so many ways from the clear bottle to artificial tastes, and a weird flip top cap like they make in China for their sodas. Still, its different, that’s why I got it.

interesting transparent malachite color, head is not very firm
nose: quite strong herbal smell, in a blind smelling my best guess would be a mediterranean style salad ....
palate: taste is a very unique blend of lime, mint, woodruff, mediteranean herbs all on top of a malt-bitter body ... sweetness and bitterness are in a good balance ...
this brew stands out as being somewhat very unique, comparable if at all only to a Berliner Weisse blended with woodruff ..... I'm especially fond of the malachite color ....

Oh no - a beer in a clear bottle, which I normally steer clear of [pun sadly intended]. Well I couldn't help but get this as the beer is green, GREEN! The only green beer I've had before are those horrible St Pat's food dyed green beers, so with curiosity piqued to its maximum piqueness I excitedly (but also hesitantly) poured Verte Du Mont Blanc into the glass.
Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Stein (just recently moved and my Chimay chalice is still packed away in some box, excuses excuses).
A: Well apart from the obvious: that clear lime green body this brew presents with a foamy white head.
S: Wow, 'funky' in a word. It has that barnyard Saison aroma going on; hay, apple peel and musty yeast. There is some herbal fragrance at play, bit of Thyme perhaps? Maybe Rosemary? Ooo and Tarragon. Also noted is a hint of lime. Not sure what to expect now, this beer has me totally out of my comfort zone.
T: Taste is lime upfront, with some overboard mid palate sweetness and hints of mint thrown in as well. Flavour is a little too reminiscent of mouthwash, not the greatest compliment one can pay towards a beer. There are those herbal notes lurking around in the background, not nearly as bitter as a Hop finished brew. It's like some sort of funky sweet herbal Radler.
M: Medium bodied with flat carbonation.
D: I don't think I'm sold on this one. It is an oddity, and not in that David Bowie good weird kind of way, bad weird - like if someone had decided to invent a beer mouthwash, yuck. Which is a bit of a shame because I liked Brasserie Distillerie Du Mont Blanc's Blonde Du Mont Blanc [don't ask me to say that last sentence out loud]. Perhaps if this brew was a bit less sweet with a more intense herbal flavour like Orval it would work better for me.
Food match: I keep thinking about brushing my teeth never mind eating anything with this beer.

I will say, if you aren't a connoisseur of Genépi, you might be thrown off.
I think if you've never had Genépi, get some, then try the beer. Otherwise you might be left scratching your head since your palate will be unfamiliar with the whole experience.
I've been buying and drinking Genépi ever since I first had it, and its sister Chartreuse. So the lime green, its fairly familiar.
For me, this alien green stuff is just delicious, and the color, I'm proud to pour myself a glass and wander through a party with distinction.
The smell is ok, and for me I'd prefer maybe a touch more carbonation. Living in Switzerland, the beer choice in the shop is pretty awful, but the Coop down the street has the Verte in the bottle. I will buy some today! Give the Brasserie du Mont Blanc beers a shot, they've hit the spot for me many times.
