Sampled from a bottle (flip-top bottle) at the brewpub.

This beer (33° Stammwürze, or degrees Plato) poured a hazy, reddish brown color with tall, light brown foam that settled. The smell was very sweet and malty with notes of Munich malt. The taste was very sweet and thickly malty with very low hop bitterness apparent through all the malt. There was a bit of Munich malt flavor. This rich, malty beer was reminiscent of a doppelbock, though of higher gravity. The mouthfeel was smooth and richly malty with full body and low carbonation. It was somewhat warming. The malty flavors lingered a long time. This was a very nice, enjoyable beer, best sipped and savored. Nice even on a warm sunny evening.
