Tried at Earl's on main in Winnipeg.
A: It’s a dark brown with ruby highlights around all the edges with one finger worth of off white head. Settles to a thin cap and left a lot of lacing all over the glass.
S: Light roasted malt for the most part. The smell was a bit muted.
T: Roasted malt with some caramel and nuttiness. I wasn’t expecting it to have as much flavor as it did.
M: Medium carbonation with a light body.
O: I was really surprised by this beer. Usually beers that are made specifically for a restaurant aren’t usually good but this was really enjoyable. It’s definitely on the lighter side of dark beers but if you’re at a Earl’s restaurant you can’t go wrong with this choice.

Sampled for the third or fourth time on tap at Earl's in Metrotown, Burnaby. Guess that speaks well for it, eh?
Pours into an 18 oz. glass looking like amber trapped in brown. Smells...well, I forgot to inhale its essense deeply. Mild, sweet, is all I recall.
Albino Rhino Dark Ale sips more like a nice, low-ABV mild than a porter. The malts come in low & muted, quiet, slivers of roast. Really, not much to it. But drinkable as all hell, & fairly tasty, too. I could down imperial pints of this low-key beast for a long time.
Good beer. Especially good for a 'house' beer. My line of choice whenever I'm in the neighborhood.

Killing some time on the U of A campus, just as classes are starting back up - Earls was convenient, and oh so new and shiny looking since I last darkened this location's doorstep. They also appear to have an extension to their Albino Rhino lineup...
This beer appears a clear dark cola colour, with two fingers of creamy light beige head, which leaves some nice Swiss-cheese lace around the glass as it recedes. It smells of lightly roasted malt, a bit of dry nuttiness, and mild leafy hops. The taste is toasted caramel malt, some dry chocolate, bittersweet coffee, and more leafy, weedy hops. The carbonation is moderate, the body medium weight, smooth, and a bit airy. It finishes off-dry, the sweet and bitter co-existing nicely.
Not the most robust or heaviest porter, but given its intended audience, not a bad option to go with the various cuisines fused and tempered at this slightly upscale chain resto.
