Received a bottle as a gift from a family member returning from France 2 days ago. After chilling it was time to sample. This was a decent drink but nothing memorable. Not much head from the pour and a little less body than expected.

French Red Ale
Bottle Fermented
Over 3 years on this bottle.
Poured into a chalice a nice cloudy reddish color, nice carbonation, with a small quick/fizzy off-white head, which leaves minimal sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, with some cherry notes, some spicyness. The taste is malty, yeasty, very nice cherry notes, slight spice. Medium body, with a pretty nice dry finish. Overall, this is a tasty brew, I would not call it a BDA, but it kinda is, but it is also/can be something different. My first from this brewery.

Beer bottle, 2012
Appearance: nice ruby-brown color. Thick coloured head.
Smell: a bit fruity
Taste: nice bitter taste from the hops. The mouthfeel is smooth, quite pleasant.
Overall: I was expecting a stronger flavour for a dark ale, but it is quite enjoyable nevertheless

This beer pours a dark amber color with a coarse, stable head that sticks to the glass and leaves some nice lacing.
Smells like spent grains, pretty grainy, like it has not been totally fermented. A good amount of dark malt give the beer some depth.
Taste is also spent grains, husky with the dark malts giving it a roasted taste. Body is medium and there is a tiny sourness in the back. Maybe intentional, this beer tastes like it isn't ready yet.
