Consumed at the brewery on August 30, 2011 and once before on February 4th, 2008.

Very clear medium yellow to amber. Head composed of extremely fine white bubbles that stick around for a long time and provide decent lacing.

My 2008 notes say the aroma was primarily Simcoe hops, but the current iteration is sweet and fruity (apricots... did they contaminate this with their apricot wheat?) with an herbal edge.

Creamy mouthfeel.

Flavors of light, slightly sweet malt (crystal? caramel?) up front and a clean but lingering bitterness on the finish.

My 2008 notes say : A bit clean and light up front with a hint of grain corniness, but a good-sized hop finish that is bitter and sticks around a while.

Mouthfeel is a little dry and has a touch of parch.

Well done, if not outstanding, but kind of one-dimensional.

Sampled on tap at the brewery. Orangey gold with a wet off-white head. Aroma features the same lemongrassy citric note as the pale ale, albeit a little stronger. Flavor is crystal malt iced tea, lemon meringue, and grapefruity hops. Not very robust. Highly carbonated, weak bitterness. This is barely a pale ale, much less an IPA, much much less a good IPA.

Sample at the brewpub. This IPA pours a mostly clear orange color with a thin beige head that disappears fairly quickly. Top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Aroma of citrusy hops and bready malt. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with flavors of hops, citrus and a caramel malt underscore. The finish is somewhat hoppy and lingers awhile. Decent overall.

First pint I had yesterday at Omaha Jack's, this was the best of the three beers I had, tasted good on a hot day

A-Medium orange color with amber highlights, small 1/2 inch creamy white head, disappeared quickly, not much retention or lacing

S-Hoppiness, grapefruit, charcoal, simcoe, lemon, other citrus, grassy accents, some malt but weak aroma, and straw

T-Started off nice and dry, some malt and citrus notes made up the middle, some bitterness and floral hops in the finish, grapefruit taste came out a little more in the next few sips, malt never got sweet thankfully, more citrus later and lemon dominated by the end, hoppy bitter accents were still there but had mellowed a bit, liked the way this one was balanced but lacked any great complexity

M-Dry, citrusy, and bitter mouthfeel, medium level of carbonation, medium bodied, taste did not last as long as other American IPAs

D-Could drink a few pints of this and then lack of complexity would begin to bore me, smooth and light on the stomach, ABV is above average for its style, decent session beer though

Pretty good for an IPA of this kind, packed a little punch too, heard this was their best brew and have to agree from what I saw in my first visit, would drink again if I ever went back, worth trying if you find yourself there

Appearance: Pours a clear, new penny copper-colored body with a small white head.

Smell: Sweetish toffee malts with a hefty dose of therapeutic citrus oils (maybe a hint of pine, too).

Taste: No more of those sweetish malts as we jump right into the resinous, citrusy hops with a moderate bitterness. Back of the throat acidity. Long, lingering aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Conspicuously oily.

Drinkability: Nice enough for an indiscreet, unbalanced IPA.

This beer is half way between an IPA and a DIPA in pretty much every aspect of it. Also I think that its called 6 shooter because they use 6 different hops in the boil (including cascade, so we'll see how much longer they'll be making that beer).

The beer poured a nice light brown color that was very clear. Large thick head emerged and stuck around for most of the life of the pint. There was some nice sticky lacing all around the glass. The aroma was 90% hops and 10% malt. Pretty good aroma overall, though its hard to pick out exactly which hops are in the nose as they use 6 in the boil and 2 in the dry hop. The flavor was mostly of hops like a DIPA but pretty bitter more like an IPA. Some of the malt shown through in the flavor but it was mostly hops. It made for a pretty interesting balance.

The body was medium/heavy and proved to be drinkable, that is if you're a hop head. Otherwise the bitterness might be a overwhelming. I would order it again.
