Not much info given on this beer. Nothing about it in the menu or on the sign above the bar. The only info I got was from the bartender who said it's part hefe, part pale ale. I guess I can see that, but even after a whole pint it was hard to figure out what the hell I was drinking.
It poured a clear brownish color, very similar to their IPA. Created some moderate foam and left a little lacing behind. Had some pretty looking bubbles coming out of solution. The smell was partially of hops, partially of malt, and the rest of something I couldn't figure out.
The flavor was just as much of a mystery. There was a wheaty sourness of american hefe and there was plenty of bitterness like a west coast pale ale (borderline IPA bitterness). Again there was an unknown variable in there. Possibly some crazy yeast or maybe something they added to the beer, who knows.
Medium body, pretty smooth. Not sure I could drink a lot of this. It might go well with a meat dish (ie steak from the steakhouse) as its sour and bitter.
