Pours black and clear with a ruby tint if held to the light, smells of coffee, chocolate, raisins, fig, booze, looks a little fizzy and over carbonated. Taste is mostly chocolate covered raisins with some bitter roasted burnt caramel malts, some roasted coffee beans. Body is medium, not as thick as it should be for the style. Overall, OK.

2013 Edition.
Deep black color with beige thick head with low retention, but leaving some laces.
Nice malty and grainy aroma with strong notes of coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and earthy hops. This is its highest point.
Spicy, alcoholic and malty flavor. Notes of earthy and grassy hops, roasted coffee, cocoa, lots of caramels and licorice. Hints of plums. Dry and bitter aftertaste with a lingering woody note.
Medium body with good carbonation and slightly acid. Alcohol of 8.2% abv is perceived but it is not unpleasant.
A decent but different Doppelbock. Very spicy and bold. Though more coffee and hop intense than average for the style. Don’t hold to that and you will enjoy it better. Anyway it is a bit too sweet, but its hoppiness partially counterbalances it.
