Baden Baden is no longer "craft" as it was bought out by Heineken and has since lowered its quality and raised prices to maximize distribution potential and profits. The majority of the malts used are not barley, but adjuncts.
That said, this one is by far the best BB beer I've tasted. It pours a clear dark amber with a high foamy head that dissipates fairly quickly. Like all BB beers, it looks a little fizzy and over-carbonated. It smells of caramel malts and some toasted malts, plum, fig, raisins, some grain. The taste includes the warm/dried fruits, caramel malt sweetness, some darker and more roasted malts, alcohol, and some bitter hops. The bitterness augments towards the finish but the finish itself is fairly short and balanced. Body is a sturdy medium, and carbonation is a bit too high as expected. The alcohol has a nice punch at 9.2%. Overall, pretty well done.

Super-Wednesday tasting with another gift Kel dear, enjoying the late winter. Appearance: Red, translucent, creamy foam with average fugacity, helping to maintain temperature. Aroma: Fruity Malt. Taste: alcohol at the inlet and outlet, think BBGolden brings more flavor; this felt that the aroma of the flavor, at least lacks the metal.
