Another beer from the Guernsey's famous brewery with an self-imposed "hellish" name. I had this beer on 17 May 05 at my local Wetherspoon's pub, where I luckily found nine festival beers on draught!!
Appearance: served in a straight half-pint glass, it pours a light-brownish head, with very dark brown colour.
Smell: approaching first is very understated red-grape juice like malty nose, with sweetich and lively fruity (can't identify which...) aroma.
Taste & Aftertaste: dried-longan-fruit kind of maltiness, round toffeeish and faint coffeeish taste, mixed with lightly fruity hoppy savour; the aftertaste is nutty and coffeeish, whereas both are not very pronounced.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: overall, the body is pretty light and refreshing for a stout, while the mouthfeel is round and soft enough. An extremely quaffable stout with characteristics of a refreshing porter really.
