9.9 problems is similar to a Russian Imperial Stout but brewed with our house lager strain instead of ale yeast that is typically used in this style. This gives the beer a clean finish and dangerously drinkable body.

2-1-17 - From the teet in LA at the brewery. Folks to my right immediately ordered this one, so I had to give it a go. Stocky fluted glass with dark dark brown color and caramel looking head. Thick chewy mouthfeel, but not as smooth as I was expecting from this nitro (not a knock). Had a taste of their other stout, but ordered a second of this IRS. Get some.

On nitro tap at Angel City Brewery in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, vanilla, and fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, vanilla, dark fruit, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a smooth, creamy, and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with an interesting use of lager yeast that seems to give more fruity qualities in this one.
Serving type: on nitro tap.
