Contract brewed for Downey Brewing Company.
Consumed at Downey Brewing Company on April 18, 2011.
Beer is a medium/dark caramel color with good clarity (most dunkels are a little cloudy). Off white head less than a finger tall soon diminishes into a sticky little crown.
Subtle hint of sweet malty aroma.
Flavor is toffee and caramel with apricot note towards end. Some roasted bitterness on finish that hangs around a long time after each sip. No clove or banana, as with many dunkels.
Unexceptional mouthfeel though ever so slightly dry.
A whole pint of this is a bit boring.
