Per Angel City's beer list: "Medium bodied, dark, Bavarian style Wheat beer with hints of dark Chocolate, Banana, and Clove." Served on-draught into a 4.5oz taster glass at Angel City last week. Part of an $8 flight of 5 tasters. My first Angel City beer ever. Expectations were average. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a milky white floater ring, but no head at all. Body colour is a hazy dark biscuit caramel-brown. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Standard fare for the style. Lacing is okay. Generally appealing.

Sm: Nutty. Evocative wheat. Banana. Clove. Rich biscuity yeast and accompanying vitamins. Lightly earthy. Clean. A mild to moderate strength aroma. Neither too sweet nor too bitter. No alcohol is detectable. Banana is dominant. No hop presence in terms of the aroma. A pretty standard smell for the style. I'm not getting the chocolate suggested by the beer list's description.

T: Lovely yeasty elements in terms of great biscuity and earthy character. Complemented well by clove and banana notes. Hazelnut. Wheat. Biscuit malt. Minimal hop presence. Nicely balanced, if simple. Maybe a hint of maple or birch syrup. Well built for the style. I quite like it.

Mf: Solid carbonation. Good clean lightly crisp presence on the palate. Not oily. Somewhat soft. A bit of creaminess. Suits the flavour profile well. Executed to style. Clean. Nicely done.

Dr: Quite drinkable. Very well priced. A pleasantly impressive introduction to Angel City Brewing. I'm hoping their other beers are as good or better. However, I could see this falling off quickly if not served on-draught. It doesn't seem like a beer that would do well in growlers or bottles.
