Don't get me wrong, I don't mind wine and Bitburger but my idea of alcohol related pleasure lies elsewhere. Vulkan lies in the heart of Mosel wineland and Bitburger is the predominant beer in the area. I tried the Dunkles in a Mexican restaurant in Cochem and, while not being blown away by it, was interested enough to propose a trip to the brewery...
Luckily enough the website promised enough to convince the other adult and children that it would be a cool evening trip with beer and food thrown in!
The beer garden is great and the staff were really friendly, the vibe is really cool with a nice alternative sort of feel to it... no typical beer garden costumes; just good beer and good food.
On the subject of food there are 3 veggie options and, as you'd expect in Germany, an amazing amount of meat options. The meat eating half of the family were very impressed with what they had, and the veggie half were pretty satisfied... which in this part of Germany is the equivalent of a Michelin star!
The beer is limited to their own products as you might expect, but I have yet to come across a beer garden sells other people's beer. And why should they. They brew a beer for pretty much all tastes and sell all of their beers and more esoteric beer related offerings in their shop... which is open until 20:00. I took away a crate of IPA, a crate of Pils and a few bottles of White beer for my beloved.
Would I go back: Yes!
Does the beer taste as nice at home: Yes!

Drove up from Cochem to check this place out and have some lunch.

Nice large facility with plenty of seating indoor and out, we sat outside since the weather was nice. We were greeted and served by some friendly employees. I enjoyed my food, and both beers that I ended up trying (Dunkel and Pale) were pretty good. They had a few others on tap as well, and a gift shop full of bottles and swag.

Overall, a pretty nice spot that is worth a stop if you are in the area.
