Served in an imperial pint glass, and thankfully not a mason jar...billed as a "classic stout" on their chalkboard.
Black body with a ruby red glint in the light. When it arrived it had almost a full finger of tan foam, but it started to ebb after a minute or so. Very little lace, but there was a tiny bit. The head faded to a broken skim on the surface over time. A very mild hint of roast malt in the aroma. Dry coffee bean and mild tobacco flavors, with a slight butterscotch sweetness. Very light feeling, mild carbonation with a dry finish and mellow coffee aftertaste. This stout seems engineered for sessioning and tailored for transitioning Guinness drinkers towards a better craft option. It had a little more flavor than that, but not enough to really impress.
