This marzen-style lager, brewed with Munich malts in the old world tradition, is rich in body and crisp on the palate. A favorite style of the Pisgah brewers, this Oktoberfest is full in flavor from a carefully balanced grain-bill. Sessionable and enjoyable.

12oz can stamped 08/07/24 poured into a pint glass at fridge temp 5.8% ABV per label. The beer pours bright golden amber with off white head. The head recedes to a pencil thin ring and little else. The aroma is mild with toasted bread. The taste is semisweet toasted malt with a hint of herbal hop bitterness. The feel is thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Cleanly lagered. Overall, ok.

12 oz can from the Wall of Beer in Clemson SC ($2.49) served in a Belgian snifter.

Appearance. This has a proper copper colored body but the head has poor retention and the body has less clarity than expected.

Mild aroma that's appealing although a bit spicy for a marzen. The flavor is neither a good as the aroma suggests nor equipped with as much sweet malt and caramel as better marzens. Instead, it has at least as much spicy hop flavor as malts.

Picked up a single from TW-Greenville 9-24-22 for $2.79. Canned 8-31-22; consumed 10-24-22.

Beer poured clear golden orange with an okay white head.

Nose is toasted malts and noble hops.

Taste is a lighter toasted malt base that incorporates balancing noble hops nicely with a light tingly finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly refreshing.

Overall a solid Marzen!

A wonderful afternoon that I finally was able to try this gem of a beer. I had missed out on it earlier and glad to finally track it down. Served cold and on tap into my pint glass, this one was consumed on 02/23/2009.

The pour was very nice, rich amber in color with a very nice clarity and a wonderful little head of white on top. Lots of carbonation coming up throughout the session added to a very lively look to it. Initial aroma is of bready malts, light grain and a hint of a fruit note. Solid with a nice earthy base to it. As I take the first sip the crispness is fantastic. Clean, precise, with a nice light hop bite to it in the finish. Lots of malt here as the profile really has a wonderful fullness and pop to it. Refreshing and wonderfully drinkable. This is a real gem here, one of the best of the style I have had in a while. Cannot wait till next season to grab this one again.
