Modest finger of bright, light tan color, even surface, this maintained as it swiftly disappears, no real stick to the lacing. Shiny mahogany brown liquid, the first pour is crystal clear before the particulate starts to come forth, steady production of tiny, dispersed bubbles. The nose does not augur any real sweetness but you do get plenty of German chocolate cake, caramel, pecans, and pie crust dough, there’s also a more taut grainy character, maybe some maraschino cherry but not particularly fruity, lingers well. Medium-bodied, creamy mouth feel with steady carbonation. Cola bean, milk chocolate, butterscotch, and vanilla bean lend more flavor than sugariness and on the whole it’s fairly dry. Candied nuts and scone more present through the finish. Hints of cherry alongside figs and yellow raisins. Drinkable, fresh ending, minimal residual flavors or textures. This is not the Doppelbock you sip before a roaring fire but it’s probably more food friendly at the table than most of its peers.

L - brown, with clarity

S - caramel and brown sugar

T - caramel, semi-sweet. Very malty. Brown sugar.

F - thin body, medium carbonation

O - well Pisgah nailed the style, but it’s a pretty bland beer in my opinion

Poured a copper body with one finger head and minimal lace patches and has a strong roasted malt aroma, complete with some sweetness like caramel or toffee. Fuller bodied, bready even, the roasted malts are definitely there along with some caramel or toffee sweetness. The beer is easy to drink as it is silky smooth, which surprised me, yet maintains that strong malt base and has a dry finish. At times I even get a little booze and dark fruits (figs).

 

 

A: Mahogany hued body with a tan head. Not too much lacing.
S:Roasted sweet malt, toffee and nutty aromas.
T: Brown sugar, malt-forward caramel and toffee flavors.
M: Medium bodied & slightly sweet. Malt heavy withoutuch hop presence.
O: Smooth, slightly lingering malt notes.

 

6.9%ABV. per bottle label.Pours a russet color with a burnt orange tinge,a thinner tan colored head atop.Some toast and buttery rum in the nose,slight nuttiness as well.Flavors of roasted nuts and toast with that sweet rum-like note as well,a nice drying somewhat crisp finish.A good stab at a doppelbock from Pisgah,better than most American versions in my opinion.

 

Comes out of the tap a somewhat hazy cinnamon brown. I didn’t get much head, but this was apparently an artifact of the pour; it does leave some nice lacing though. Strong aroma has an overtone of cloves and cinnamon, along with malty and caramel notes. Mouth filling flavor has firm malty, caramel and clove notes with firm hints of chocolate, cinnamon, apple and hops. Full-bodied texture has a strong fizz, and leaves a lip-smacking malty, slightly fruity, fairly tingly finish. Prosit!

A nice, on the darkside for a Dopplebock, brown/amber pour. A couple fingers of dark cream head.

Smells nice, malty, dark bread and some apple juice blend like aromas.

Taste was very balanced, malt, light roast and chocolate and a good amount of red fruit or fruitcake. Finishes pretty clean with some lingering malt.

Nice medium body, near creamy mouthfeel. Could have been a little fuller, but I expect lighter things from organic brews. Anyways, the drinkability is increased this way.

Drinkability is very good, no alcohol present and nothing detracting to not make you put down a few. Another good organic brew from Pisgah.

Hell yeah a new one from Pisgah! My days are made for things like this. After a long day of bickering and finally getting my new car, what better way is there really then to celebrate. On tap at Barley's and served in a pint glass, this one was consumed on 06/15/2010.

Great pour here as a dark caramel color brown liquid forms in the glass. Great little light tan head circles the top to a height of around two inches before settling back down to and leaving a nice little cap across the top. Nice aroma of rich caramel, toffee, touches of butterscotch and an earthy, almost hoppy finish to it, but it was a rough, gritty hoppy note. Smooth as could be as whatever that ABV is it was not noticeable at all. Really full for the style with a creamy feel that left a nutty, roasted and bready taste on the palate.

Overall I have to say this was masterfully done in my opinion. I would have no issue at all with having this one again any day. Simply a great version of the style and something I would love to see coming down the pike in bottles.
