Tasted this beer on-tap by half-pint at the Evening Star in Brighton on 24/06/05. Can't quite pin down what style this beer is, as it doesn't show any clear-cut characteristics to fit in any of the categories given on this website. But according to some reviews of this beer elsewhere, it's termed as Vienna lager, and I borrow this definition here, waiting for kind correction in the near future by other more experienced BAs who will have tried and be willing to shed some lights on this brew.
Appearance: very cloudy, dark golden hue; the beerhead is thin and almost negligible for a lager (or, for this matter, any beer on-tap!)... very fine carbonation is detected.
Smell: on nose, besides being lightly grainy and malty, it's spicy and aromatic as well--refreshingly spicy aroma mixed of wheatish note, kind of coriander seed, and even summer berry or strawberry's lightly sweet aroma. Very finesse~~
Taste: pretty flat...especially compared to the aroma--tartly fruity and spicy flavour (unidentifiable spices) overwhelms the palate, malts are kept to the minimum level. The finish is quite thirst-quenchingly dry, though not significant amount of hops is present.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: I sense a lightly (inconsiderable) zesty and sweet feel in the aftertaste, but also present there is an acidic and watery mouthfeel, rendering the beer rather thin in addition to its overly mild flavour. Overall, it's not an enjoyable beer by any standard...
