Served on tap during Max's Belgian Beer Festival 2008. This beer from the brewpub operated by the founders of of Brasserie d'Achouffe.
A: The witbier is quite hazy, an extremely pale, straw colored yellow that often takes on an ethereal green color (think Slimer from Ghostbusters only toned down a bit).
S: The nose is spicy, loaded up on tart wheat, spicy coriander and a touch of citrus bitterness (not hoppiness, mind you).
T: The first sip is strong on wheat, ever so tart but light enough to go down easy. The spice profile follows the maltiness, peppery coriander with touches of bitter orange rind. The lightness of the wheat is the dominant theme, all flavors eventually return to it. This is a good thirst quencher.
M: The mouthfeel is biting but relaxed, a fitting contradiction. I had two chalices (not samplers) of this one.
D: Anytime the little gnome is attached to a beer, I get excited. This is no exception, an enjoyable drink from a trusted source. If you see it on tap somewhere, give it a shot.
