Consumed 08/03/07 at San Pedro Brewing Co.

Arriving in a pint glass from the tap in the bar, the beer was a pale, clear gold with minimal head.

There was little aroma; what there was consisted mainly of indistinct floral hops.

Flavor was dominated by unpleasing corn; for the first half of the pint, I couldn't detect anything else. When it warmed slightly (as I was in no hurry to drink it after the first few sips, it sat for a bit) it improved a little, with a floral flavor similar to the nose coming out.

The only thing notable about the mouthfeel was an unusual (in my admittedly small history with lagers) astringency which was both stronger and much longer-lived than I think is appropriate to the style.

Overall, not a beer I would order again or recommend.

Presentation: Sampled on draft at the San Pedro Brewing Company. Listed as 'Longshoreman Lager' on the Blackboard.

Described on the Menu and Website as: “Named after our local dockworkers union. Our lightest beer. This golden lager is brewed with the finest German hops and malt.”

Appearance: Faded pale straw body with a soft thin white head that finishes finger thick. Beefy carbonation.

Nose: Biscuit malts and some delicate hops. Clean unfettered nose.

Taste: Exceptionally clean, very refreshing and not much in the way of any distractions. Dry low key floral hop finish. A decent enough lager, rather good for the style actually.

Mouthfeel: Thin feel, a little watery, but after the previous beers I guess it wasn‘t that sensible to try and enjoy this one last.

Drinkability: A very easy going brew that would go equally well with a meal as it would a plate of Appetizers.

Overall: San Pedro Brewing Company’s very own light beer. This was my last Pint of the night, nothing outstanding but it was a decent enough offering and much better that its counter parts from the big boys.
