On tap at san pedro brewery
A: poured a very dark brown with a finger of tan head that left good sticky lacing
S: roasted malts and chocolate dominate the nose with hints of coffee, toffee, and sweetnees of sugars.
T: nice creamy roastinees up front with chocolate flavors hints of malts and coffe that balance out nice in the mixture of ingredients,
M: medium body with a good amount of carbonation that had a creamy feel with a very slight bitter finish.
D: decent porter offering from san pedro brewing that really surprised me. It was my second best beer from their house brews. The maibock in my opinion was the best.

On draft at brewery, consumed 01/21/08.
Very dark brown with deep ruby highlights. Good head retention and active carbonation throughout.
Aroma of roasted chocolate/coffee.
Slightly astringent. Bitter chocolate flavor from roasted malts. Vague nut flavor as well. Maybe sour cherry in there, too? Only a very thin bitterness on finish.
Not bad.

Presentation: Sampled on draft at the San Pedro Brewing Company. Listed simply as ‘Chocolate Porter’ on the Blackboard.
No description listed on the Menu or Website.
Appearance: Darkest brown with a little blackness to it. Tanned head was good on the delivery but it soon faded to a broken halo covering. Average conditioning and some blotchy lacing.
Nose: Roasted malts and lots of dark chocolate, smooth creamy nose.
Taste: Soft start with a rising roasted malt middle. The chocolate lays low but soon fills the central portion of this brew an leaves a powdered milk chocolate covered dark chocolate cake. Nice blend of milk & dark chocolates, malts and a soft bitterness to finish with.
Mouthfeel: Average feel with a middle-of-the-road posture. Flavors are higher than the body, which can feel lacking, but this only assists in lending a solid Drinkability.
Drinkability: One of those Porters than can feel thin at first, but later that reciprocates into an increased quaffability.
Overall: Nice mixed chocolate flavors and roasted malts but never overpowering which means that you can easily manage several of these without filling up.
