Looks great poured into a tulip st bernardus glass, really helps this retain it's head. Lovely hazy golden body with a touch of gas.

Aroma is pretty appealing, hoppy and spiced ripe fruits, think banana cake.

Taste is pretty good, quite a nice malty hit, and at 7.5% you can just sense the alcohol.

Feel is a little bit of a let down, very artificial, and the effervescence swarms the tongue.

Overall it is a good beer, just a shame about the texture and dry aftertaste......almost a 4

Colour: darker gold color is clear. White head composed of fine bubbles, solid, long remain on the surface of beer.
Aroma: strong fruity, with notes of bread and overwhelming "rusticity".
Taste: intense malt, notes of bread, again sweet fruit, peaches, strawberries and the background dark and white grapes. Delicate notes stables are also present.
Gentian present at the finish, dry and slightly herbal. High saturation fits perfectly.

Thin looking and golden with an amber tinge, lots of carbonation. Lots of foam from a near gusher melts down to a half finger of yellowish head.

Bananas, candy, smoke, pears, a hint of barrel aging on the finish. Not enough to make me guess it was aged on barrels based on the nose.

Bananas, phenols, pears, light sweetness. Ok, the Genievre or gin I suppose is there but I am looking hard and barely finding it. Or am I finding it? So not strong on the gin. Mostly tastes like an average to below average Belgian pale ale.

Medium body with a hint of weightiness or syrup quality. Lots of carbonation.

Found this in Vientiane, drank in Chiang Mai Oct 25th, 2015. Nice rare find for these parts, but not outstanding or worth seeking out. Love that its from France.

Pours a golden colour, a head is white and quite large. Aromas of juniper, yeast and alcohol. Tastes of fruity notes with hints of unfiltered apple juice, apple purée, cider, sugar sweetness, biscuit and vanilla along with alcohol from it 7.5 ABV. It has a mild bitter sweet aftertaste. Overall a little better than I was expecting.

Pours amber with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows baked apples, brown sugar, sweet malt and confectionery notes.
Sweet flavours again, more like apple cake though. Also a soft, spicy phenolic note too. Finishes very weakly though.
Carbonation is too high.

Another nice ale from du Bocq. Hints of the gin come through in aroma and taste and adds a nice warmth. Color is amber with silky head. Gin compliments the malt profile of this beer. A pleasure to drink.

Not sure that American Strong Ale is the best style descriptor for this.

750ml bottle under cork which popped like sparkling wine.

This pours a clear light golden colour with a generous dense white head.

Quite a yeasty nose. Quite sharp and tangy like a saison but with a bit more malt around it. Some citrus notes.

The palate is amazing. Very fruity almost raspberry like. I can also get the medicinal notes that I associate with gin. Some hints of alcohol.

Quite full bodied.

Very surprised with how interesting this beer. Won't be cracking another right now but I look forward to sharing a bottle with some beer mates soon.

At a beer tasting in my place on the 26th of August 2011 it was the 11th beer we tried.

A - A very big foamy and generous white head, dark golden transparent body. Not much carbonation and the head let retracted itself.

S- smell is very yeasty, very nice fruits and hoppy flavors.

T - Nice fresh, light hoppy a real thirst quencher.

M - The warmness of alcohol is present, strong nice flavor

O - notes of grapefruits are present just after the yeasty taste. I really loved this beer and I most definitely will buy it again. This beer surprised us all that night.

We had a grand beertasting a few days ago thanks to Mar02x. A new BA member with a great mind on beer.

Poured in a normal winelike glass.

Lightyellow fluid with almost no carbonation and a decent head. Nice fresh smell and dito taste. The hops come slowly in this beer.

A surprisingly good French brew.

From notes June 6th.

A: Yellow/orangy/brown with a (US) Budweiser head.

S: Witbier like, though has a darker smell.

T: Sweet, lemon flavor, somewhat bitter for this style which isn't pleasant.

M: Slight sting of carbonation bubbles, drying of the tongue.

O: Ok but not great. I would drink it if there wasn't something better.

Got this bottle by my cousin who just went to see his family in france!

A very big foamy and generous white head, coupled with a limpid dark golden, with a transparent body. Not much carbonation and the head let itself die slowly on the wall of the glass.

smell is very yeasty, fruity, in between a saison and a double with a nice touch of spices and fruit like hoppy flavours

Very harsh in mouth, carbonated and hard at the first sip, like a very cold pepsi, if you know what I mean.

The warmness of alcohol is present, and the flavours of the yeast come in mouth very strongly.

notes of grapefruits are present just after the yeasty taste, but a not pleasant cartonboard left over comes and tickle the palate.

Beer bottle (33cl), tasted in 2001.
Appearance : golden color, white foam head, with a good carbonation.
Smell : made with Jenever, citrus
Taste and mouthfeel : notes if genever, refreshing bitterness
Drinkability : a good beer in the style Belgian strong ale

Poofy and lasting dense head on a pale golden color. The smell is very yeasty and fresh, quite wheaty too. The taste is enjoyable but I wouldn't have thought about gin unless I had known that this was a gin beer brewed for a gin distillery. It is a bit wheaty with light hints of anise and liquorice. Mouthfeel is pretty good, and thicker than I expected from the appearance. Quite chewy with a potent wooden and grassy hoppiness. Not too much to write home about, but a nice beer that goes down easily, in spite of the 7.5% I wasn't really suspecting.
