Look: Slightly hazy light amber to copper color, frothy white head with good retention.

Aroma: Fruity esters of apples and pears. Slight hint of alcohol on the nose.

Flavor & aftertaste: Medium sweetness, fruity, spicy, peppery and herbal. Strong alcohol taste. Moderate bitterness.

Palate: Medium bodied and soft. Moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: Starts sweet and fruity. Transitions to spicy & herbal, then strong alcohol note with bitterness in the finish. This Triple has the aroma and fruity esters nailed down. Unfortunately, the alcohol flavor is too strong. It tends to take over mid sip and provides too much warming. This would be close to perfect in 8% abv range.

Poured from the 11.2 oz bottle, dated BB 06/24 into the test chalice
A - A bit murky, dark golden yellow, active carbonation moves topside. A thin ring and archapelgo assemble.
S - Grainy, with a spicy snap coutesy of the yeast.
T - Suprisingly bitter, again grainy. There is an asparin thread thats a bit hard to take,
M - Medium in body, with a prickly texture, strong finish, linger is gingery.
O - A solid Triple, that i would like to try again

De color ambar, con un ligero cordón de espuma de baja retención. Cuerpo y carbonatación media. Aroma a malta y caramelo. En boca tiene un ligero dulzor pero rápidamente se hacen presente las notas cítricas (naranja). Final levemente seco.

L- Mid/dark gold, pours with very minor haze (most sediment stuck fast in a layer on the bottom of the empty bottle). Pours with 3mm just off-white head. [ps 15mins later, head hols up well].
S- Has some richness to it, it's more a complex liquor note than straight ABV/alcohol. Overall very pleasant, hard to ID constituent facets.
T- It certainly has a liquor-ish side to it; my palate is broadcasting that this is clearly a bit of a thumper. Yet, again, I don't buy a 9% Tripel seeking something shy.
F- I feel it's ABV% fuelled warmth going down to my stomach - unusual!
O- Lovely, zero 'wrong/out of balance' to note. Easy drinking. Would make a good dessert beer. Unusually prominent ABV%, but I don't regard that as a -ve within a profile as polished as this. I'd happily drink this one again, no question.

Pours a three finger white head that fades quickly leaving no lace. Hazy amber color, with a ton of yeast left in bottle. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Light grapefruit hop nose, flavor is mellow grapefruit hops and caramel. $1.95 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA.

it might not be totally fair to say i strongly dislike this brew, because my guess it that its a bit old, which would account for the stale flavors in this, but the bottle i drank tonight is downright off. blonde to brass in color, heady as the dickens. is smells like a tripel, estery yeast and a tripartite grain bill as per usual, but there is a rancid sort of decaying bitterness to it that is just comes in faintly. the taste show it way more, especially on the tail end, and its pretty yucky all things considered. i still have the sweetness, the fizz, the body, and the booze, but what this beer has turned into on the shelf over i dont know how long is really nasty. just another one of those belgian beers that i am sure travels really poorly. will revisit if i ever get to go to this beer mecca, but in its american form, its pretty ugly stuff.

Slightly hazy golden amber color with a medium head with medium retention.
Light aroma for a tripel, sweet malt and some sourness to it. Dry hopping really didn't work here.
Taste is different than usual tripels. Sweet malt with hints of brown sugar, pine, sweet oranges, and lots of spices with a decent amount of hops.
Dry and bitter aftertaste which is good for a change for tripels.
Medium body with low but effervescent carbonation, 9% ABV is there but perfectly inserted.
A different tripel, less complex but also a bit more fun at the hop side.
