Appearance: It has a nice brownish/amber color to it. It has a nice creamy off-white head that dies down moderately fast and leaves little lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of caramel, toffee, maple syrup, smoked malts, woody oak and light vanilla.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a some sweet caramel/toffee, maple syrup, light smoked malts, oak and faint vanilla.

Mouthfeel: It has a low-medium carbonation with an decent overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by decent flavors and aromas.

Another of I&G's new offerings. They've slowly become a very popular brewery in these parts, thanks to their tasty beers, and really nice bottles to boot. This particular one came in a box (good move).

There's not much sense commenting on the colour, but it just looks attractive poured into the glass with the empty glass bottle sitting beside it all frosted up. It's the little things like this that make reviewing beer always exciting. The aroma is true to its name, as the smokiness is quite prevalent. Some really sweet undertones too.

The taste is extremely nice. It has that great smokiness while also being very refreshing and light on the palate with light carbonation. It goes down extremely well for such a beer. If you let the aftertaste linger on your tongue a bit, it can be a little unpleasantly bitter, but the actual flavours are pretty good. It almost has sort of a whiskey aftertaste too. The ABV is also evident right away, as the burn is very strong, almost demanding you finish the beer quickly.

Overall, certainly a good beer. Not particularly noteworthy in any particular aspect, although it's certainly worth a sample if you're a fan of this brewery.

Pours dark copper with a fading head.
Nose shows light smoke, vanilla oak notes, soft coconut and bourbon. Actually quite good!
Flavours pretty much perfectly mirror the flavours, with more smoke, vanilla and bourbon as well as copious amounts of sweet toffee and caramel.
Carbonation could be higher.

Bottle: Poured a copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with limited retention and not much lacing. Aroma of butterscotch notes with light smoked notes and some residual sugar notes. Taste is a mix between some brown sugar with some butterscotch notes with some light woody and smoke notes. Body is light with OK carbonation. This starting point is interesting but ultimately this is lacking complexity.

Ok this brewery has been hit and miss for me but I'm very interested in this one and it pours a dark copper hue with a three finger head and creamy clingy lacing, the smell is sweet hickory,a touch of smoke and some sweet bourbon and yeah I'm liking it,the mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with soft carbonation and the tastes start off with maple syrup,a touch of smoked oak, molasses and finished with a touch of spicey bourbon and overall this is definately my favourite offering from these guys and well worth a look cheers.

Appearance: crystal clear, deep amber; full, thick head with limited retention

Aroma: vanilla, caramel, dark rum

Taste & Mouthfeel: hits hard initially with a burning sensation and flavour on the palate, similar to cinnamon hearts; you could call it smoke, but the sensation is more of heat; flavours of burnt caramel, toffee, cinnamon, vanilla; not as sweet as other I & G, the burn and dry finish encourage rapid sampling; read the label - maple syrup finished - yep, totally identifiable as the main contributor to the sweetness, a great match with the fiery flavours; silky mouthfeel, medium-heavy body; root beer

Overall: the best I & G beer I've had, great interplay of a variety of strong flavours; really well done
