Dark reddish brown. Half inch of yellowish beige head that dropped to a slick. Some carbonation but not a lot. Bit of lacing that disappeared.

Sweet aroma of butterscotch and ripe figs.

The taste starts with the butterscotch then there is a big wave of scotch whisky and oak. Resolves to a sweet aftertaste of butterscotch and brown sugar.

Light medium feel. A bit watery.

Good, enjoyable. Strong scotch and oak flavours but not over-powering. Some will find this one overly sweet.

Not generally a barrel-aged guy but this was completely delicious. So good.

A - Deep black colouration with a cream head of beige foam. Slight ruby leaning in the appearance and a skinny sticky lace left behind.

S - Sweet and malty. The aroma is almost banana like but it smells a little to similar to the Rum finish to distinguish itself.

T - Sweet malt no burnt or roasted element at all. Banana and caramel with treacle. Faint earthy tones and no whisky evidence at all. Woody element in the back but very mild.

MF - Thin to medium body. And no drying or cloying elements to be found. The mouth feel is just a bit weak.

Overall - For me a bit of a let down from the range which now has probably too many beers to keep track of. That said it is still as good as many another brewery will put out and it is more than drinkable but to me it is just not as good as I expect from the brand.

Botyled and purchased with gift box Probably one of the better I&G brews with the porter actually providing some flavour but still a little too thin for the style

Appearance: It has a nice dark brown color to it with some amber hues shinning through. It has a nice creamy beige head that dies down moderately and leaves light lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of caramel and toffee upfront followed by vanilla, oak, some whiskey and a light earthiness.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has alot of sweet caramel/toffee/butterscotch, some vanilla, light oak characteristics, faint whiskey and some earthy notes. This beer definetely has a lot more residual sweetness than I originally thought it would.

Mouthfeel: It has a low-med carbonation with a very nice creamy overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavors and aromas. I quite enjoyed this one.

Opaque black color with copper hues. Creamy light brown 2 finger head, lasting 2 - 3 minutes, strong legs and activity.

Great aromas and flavors of toffee, toasty, fruity, nuts, whisky alcohol, slightly spicy and a smoky earthy oak like feel. Very sweet and well balanced strength.

Medium creamy body without a chalky feel and some pricky carbonation. Well balanced finish ending with a pleasant sweet smoky mouthcoat and alcohol aftertaste.

Overall : Instant feeling of a great craft, fresh and super flavorful.

Decent enough, but quite sweet. Good as an after dinner beer, not for drinking a ton of. Lots of interesting flavours. Another quality G&I beer, but really just a variation on a theme.

From Summerhill LCBO bottle slightly chilled. Colour is very dark, slight creamy head, tannish with good retention.

S - definite aromas of whisky barrels, oaky, vanilla, prickly whisky spice notes, pepper maybe, also assertive licorice and some spice, subdued florals, leather, the porter spiciness and the whisky blend fairly well, there is very little malt presence though.

T - caramel fudge, quite sweet and candied taste actually, very unexpected. Has some of the barrel vanilla in there but it feels like candied vanilla or sweets with a hint of licorice and molasses. Butterscotch and licorice, it tastes like a candystore, with some of those peppermints as well. Whisky character blends in non-descriptly, you can pick it up but doesn't feel lessen the cloying candy aspect. Some oaky aspect perhaps and some orchard fruit in the backdrop.

M - body is quite assertive, moderate carbonation and all the sweetness eases it down, sipper for sure.

I was quite enamoured before tasting this beer, completely didn't expect a candybomb, but I don't recall having an I&G that wasn't on the sweet side, here it combined with the licorice and vanilla, peppermint drops and fudge, also Scottish Tablet! to place you firmly in an old-timey Scottish candystore, in that fact it isn't a bad beer, just one I would struggle to drink consistently, if they had let some of the other flavours come through this could really have been quite inspiring.

Very dark brown.
Aroma of caramel fudge and oak.
Sweet and smooth. Taste reflects the aroma. Some smoke.
Rather cloying and oily. Low carbonation.
Nice at first but one 330ml bottle is enough for me.
