Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a one finger head; splashy lacing

Smell: Bready Munich malt aroma with a hint of sugar; a touch of oak and hint of Bourbon

Taste: Bready flavors forward with some sweetness; earthy and slightly fruity with some Bourbon and oak, in the middle; moderate bitterness and a slightly sweet finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: The barrel treatment is very subtle here as are the hops

This is the Barrel aged version of the Gunnpowder IPA. Cascade and Citra hops. 5.6% abv. 11.2 fl. Oz.

A solid amber coloration, active appearance despite being barrel aged. Off white thick foamy cover is clumpy and dense, leaves a solid constant covering and mild lacing.

The aroma is very much like an English IPA. Husky and deeply herbal notes, deep malt aroma that reminds me of antique mahogany furniture due to the barrel aging effect. Then there is the underlying citrus and minty hop smell from the classic American hops of Citra and Cascade. Spicy malt and English style yeast is always intreguing to my nose.

The malty flavors are deep and complex, spicy, herbal, dark grains and wood. The cask and boozy effect goes a long way and adds charecter. The hops range from citrus to spicy Earth. Dark amber maltiness mingles with the multi colored hops.

A very crispy medium bodied feel, lively, yet smooth and mellow from the barrel. Makes you want to gulp, not sip.

I'm a big fan of English IPA's, add bolder hops and cask flavors and I'm hooked. Well done!

Pours a clear light orangish amber with a thin white head that dissipates quickly leaving good lacing. Aroma is faint, European hops and mild citrus. Flavor follows the nose, with only a faint hint of oak. Feel is light to medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Overall nothing special, but a decent enough ale.

L- clear straw gold color, white head with decent lacing.
S- faint earthy, citrus hops
T- citrus, piney hop flavor, balanced well with malt sweetness. Barrel not showing up.
F- medium body, crisp finish.
O- decent, not special. Not sure what “barrel aging” did for the beer.
