500ml bottle served cold-ish into a goblet. LCBO purchase for $17.15 CDN. Aged in grain whisky casks from Strathclyde Grain Distellery.
Appearance - Dark cola brown with a nice near finger of light and foamy tan head. Pretty solid staying power and some lacing left behind.
Smell - Roasty notes, hints of dark chocolate, smoke, wood with some dark fruits blended in and the overriding binder of leather. Good intensity.
Taste - Wood, hints of vanilla and chocolate, some smoke then leather and tobacco. Grainier than many past renditions. Some booziness.
Mouthfeel - Pretty smooth, fairly full bodied and low carbonation. Coats the mouth nicely but not extravagantly.
Overall - A good rendition from the annual Vanishing Point, but I can't help but feel slightly disappointed as there have been version that blew me away. #09 doesn't quite hit that lofty goal.
