Draft pint at The Brewmaster's Tavern in Williamsburg. My wife and I have dinner there frequently and have never seen this offered before either here or at their Southampton steakhouse. Beer menu description says it has a "hint" of blackberries... I tried it since both I and my wife like their Raspberry Wheat beer.
a: Transparent black, no head by the time it reached our table.
s: Blackberry candy.
t: Blackberry flavor similar to a hard candy dominates. Hard to tell it is a brown ale. My guess is it's their Marshall Brown Ale with some blackberry flavoring added.
m: Light to medium. The flavor readily distracts from any other sensory experience.
o: Different! Never had any beer with this flavor before. A specialty brew for those who are not big fans of regular beer flavors. Unlike their Raspberry Wheat, which comes with real crushed raspberries in it when you order it at either of their brewpubs, this had no actual blackberries in it. Unlikely it would make much difference though, since the flavoring or whatever really dominates the taste.
