From the can, it poiurs a slightly hazy amber color with a nice head, which soon diminishes to nothing. In the nose, it is sweetish malt and bread. In the mouth, it is a pleasant flavored malt. Nice!

A moderately strong pour was needed to reach a finger of off-white soapy foam with short retention and spots of lace. Pale-orange color with orange-amber highlights.
Sweet malt, baked bread and rising dough greet the nose with wheat, citrus and faint hops.
Light juicy taste, mostly unsweetened orange and grapefruit with faint caramel and toasted malt. Neutral on sweetness with low bitterness, uniform throughout. The finish is quick and smooth, faint bitterness lingers as the aftertaste drys a bit. The juice overpowers the malt.
Light body with average carbonation, alcohol is well hidden. Session-able and smooth, a N.E style festbier. A little less juice could let the malt taste shine.

From the 16 oz. can with a canning date of 07/31/19. Sampled on September 4, 2019.
The pour is a lighter amber color with yellow highlights underneath a lasting white foamy head.
The aroma is alive with caramel malts and butterscotch but also an off-putting vegetable mash character. Maybe a floral bite.
Light-medium mouthfeel. Slick and oily.
The sweet caramel malts are the biggest taste characteristics and fairly typical of the style. But I still had this odd cooked vegetable flavor under it all. Mildly dry ending.

I don't know why, but Opa Opa decided to change the name of its Octoberfest beer to "Opaaafest" (note the extra a's) for its 2018 edition. The last review for an Opa Opa Octoberfest beer was from 2012 under a different different name. So now, 6 years later, I'm going to presume it merits its own page, as well as some updated reviews.
This new version hits all the marks of a Marzen style Lager: copper color, malty backbone with a subtle spiciness, just enough hops to keep it interesting...and for around $10 for 4 tall (pint) cans, it's a great deal. Most of the Octoberfest beers are gone for the season, but this one seems to be in good supply in MA.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
