brewed with or for alamo drafthouse it looks like, and it seems to be at least the second one of these end credits beers, if not more. this one is a delicious brown ale brewed with walnuts. nuts still intrigue me in beer, and i was immediately drawn to this one. its light in color for being a brown, more of a deep red color than a true brown, a little hazy, and with a mellow head from the tap. it smells and tastes a bit sweet from some heavier crystal malt, i get some dry cocoa in here too to balance it, and the walnuts, which have a sort of green earthy not yet dried or roasted quality about them, but obvious and appealing. some caramel sweetness in here, lots of malt sugars swirling around, and they stand out a lot because the beer is a little thin and under carbonated, so it stagnates a little bit and seems overly sweet, but the nuts keep it grounded and the light chocolate malt in here unites the two elements really well. it has an almost whiskey character to it, light vanilla and sweet oak, not quite candied, pralines or something. overall the beer as a brown ale is a little rough around the edges, but the walnut element makes it unique and tasty. a little darker and a little drier and this would be lights out!
