Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a pinkish purple color with a one finger head of pinkish-purple foam. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is very strong of a sour green apple and lime smell mixed with some other aromas of a mustiness and hay. While very brilliant in purple color, the blueberry in the aroma is relatively light overall, just giving a little accentuation to the smell. Along with these smells is an acai smell and somewhat odd stale smell.
Taste – The taste begins with a very tart flavor of green apples and apple cider vinegar mixed with a rather decent showing of lime and acai. There is a light cracker malt flavor that creates a base which lasts throughout. After the initial taste some herbal and grassy flavors as well as more sourness comes to the tongue. At the same time a little bit of blueberry works its way onto the scene. Some more tartness and quite a bit of funk develop at the end, leaving one with a rather sour and somewhat off-putting taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light and crisp with a carbonation level that is high. For the style the feel is great, matching the sourness and fruit rather well.
Overall – The flavors just don’t meld well. It leaves a rather off taste in the mouth at the end. Nothing I would ever try again…
