Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a sweet citrus and tropical fruit smell with orange, ruby red grapefruit and a bit of mango present. There are also some lighter cracker malt aromas as well as a little bit of a floral and herbal smell.
Taste- The taste begins with a drier bready malt base that is matched with some light caramel and a touch of apricot and pear. Right from the start there is a decent showing of a grapefruit hop that is accentuated with a bit of a floral and herbal hop. The later hop flavors are light upfront, but increase as the taste advances. At the same time the fruit flavors fade a tad, while some grain and a hint of alcohol become more prevalent, leaving one, in the end, with a rather dry and nicely hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is higher. Overall, the feel is nice for the dryness and the hop, creating a rather easy sipper.
Overall – A nice double IPA. Not overly sweet, with a good hop blend and an overall dry character.
