Lighten up, dammit! Not to put too fine a point on it, but ain’t that what beer is all about? Making the good times great and the bad times bearable.
Native Light takes all that’s good in the world (namely Native Texan Pilsner) and refines it down to its purest essentials: water, hops, yeast, and a smidgen of malt. A premium light lager free of excess—carbs, calories, alcohol—and full of flavor. 100 calories per 12 oz can.
HOPS: Saaz, Hallertauer Mittlefrüh
MALTS: German Pilsner, Rice
YEAST: Augustiner Lager

Poured from a can. Date on can 6/23/23.
Pours a crystal clear straw in color with minimal head that dissipates to nothing rather quickly. No lacing. Carbonation looks solid, but not overly so for a beer of this style. Pretty standard look, would bump it up if the head retention were better.
Aroma is sweet malts, light fruits and grass. Actually very similar to the Native Texan pilsner, except lighter. No off notes. One of the better aromas for the style.
Taste follows the aroma. Light malts and grassy hops with a hint of white grape and lemon. Again, very much like the Native Texan, but everything is more muted. Not much lingers on the tongue after the swallow, maybe a hint of sweet malts and grassy. The flavor that is there is quite good.
Mouthfeel is light with average carbonation, I wouldn't even call it zesty. This drinks extremely smooth and easy. Highly sessionable. The best mouthfeel I've experienced in a light lager. I find most of them to be overly carbonated.
For the style, this is probably the best I've had. I'm also a fan of the Native Texan pilsner, so that helps. It's a great finisher beer, a great session beer, and a lovely one to drink in the hot weather when you're seeking something that will cool you off and feel refreshing. Cheers!
