Fearless is a bourbon barrel-aged imperial coffee stout. This beer uses massive amounts of specialty malts and a huge amount of oats. After aging in freshly dumped bourbon barrels for over a year this beer is hit with a big dose of coffee beans from Recess Coffee & Roastery.

The pour is motor oil black with a tan & frothy head of foam. The taste is rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, bourbon barrel oak, coffee, oats, & molasses. Moreover, the 12.8% abv drinks more like a 9.5% beer. Cheers! A-

Sampled at Cigar City Brewing’s El Catador Edition XV bottle share event.
Poured from 22 oz bottle into a Cigar City taster’s glass.
A beautiful beer aged to perfection. I stood there and put away three consecutive hits and could have taken the bottle to a table if it wouldn’t have been seen as rive gauche by the attendees.
Everything an imperial Coffee Stout should be, I’d put it up against the best of Bourbon County in quality ingredients, aroma, taste and feel. A delight on all levels. Smooth. Bourbon barrel forward. Thick. Chewy. Yum.
Bring this one back pleeze!

thank you to @micada for this one. I forgot I had this, IDK when he sent this ,but glad i found it.
This is an all around Great BBA Coffee Impy Oatmeal Stout. Everything I expect and it exceeds. Most BBA and Non BBA Coffee tend to be too sweet and lack balance but not this guy.
Poured very thick and settles pitch black which makes me anticipate a treat.
Nose is Heavily roasted and barrel char .
The flavor is straight to the point. No fuckin around here . It's big malt, some dark fruit and bitter chocolate .
Mouthfeel is perfect, exactly what i want from an Imperial Oatmeal Stout...thick and chewy.
This is great. A real winner. Up there with Cafe Deth and the rest of the Top Tier Oatmeal Coffee beers

Middle Ages 2018 Fearless, a bourbon barrel-aged imperial coffee stout. It’s also a new beer for me. Now, I’ve only had one Middle Ages ale something or other before, which was enough to put me off of them. When the store clerk suggested it, I was hesitant. Good thing I didn’t pass.

This is delicious, really delicious. It’s a waxed bottle that looks cool. You pop the top and get hit with a very strong sweet bourbon aroma that you could enjoy lazily for some time. Bottle was fridge cold and poured slowly. It’s a deep clear brown, with a one-finger tan bubbly head. Once the nose is in the glass, you get all that bourbon, plus a bunch of strong coffee aroma...not a roasty smell, but one of those deep creamy types, like a cappuccino from a fresh ground batch of beans.

First sips follow the nose all day. Crisp, tasty bourbon on the front, followed by bourbon mixed in that creamy coffee, ending with a long linger of the whole thing. It’s a superb malt profile, not overtly chocolatey or dirty or sweet, just purely a brick house that keeps the taste on your tongue for quite awhile. Mouthfeel is medium-full, perfect for the flavor profile.

Seriously, I’m really surprised at this. It is, dare I say, reminiscent of base BCBS, but with a bit more “muddied” (but not in a bad way at all) middle, which I attribute to the creamy strong coffee vibe. The overall profile is complex and intertwining as you drink each sip. It’s not a stunted unilateral sequence of different tastes. It’s a swirl of flavor.

The alcohol has no bite, but it brings some warmth over time as I drink it on the back deck, again listening to all the bugs and watching the moon travel across the back.

Don’t tell anyone about this until I buy another five or ten bottles. Seriously, so pleasantly surprised!

Hot damn is this good. And so surprisingly smooth! A little sweet, and nice and toasty. Nothing seems overdone. Comes to life as it warms up. Pour a glass. Sip and ponder then forget about for a while..
