This coffee stout is inspired by Recess' Cold Brewed Coffee. Like cold brew coffee, this stout is not bitter or overly roasty but is packed with coffee flavor.

16 oz can, canned 5/28/23
pours black, with cream colored head. as it warms the espresso aroma stands out more. taste is less roasty and more nutty and fruity, almost a little sweet. medium bodied, could be a little thicker for my preference.

Canned 12/18/20 . Misread the date, or would have likely passed on it. Oh well, here goes....;)
Dark brown with just under 1.5 fingers of quickly-dissipating tan head.
Smells of chocolate , coffee - of course, but at this late date , how much is surprising - , a little cola, and some roasty malt.
Taste is brownie batter, but less sweet, brown bread, cola, and a bit of black coffee. There is some light tang after finish , similar to rye or sourdough bread crust. Light bitterness. Some coffee flavor lingers after finish, after it starts to warm.
Feel is light-medium, initially with the barest slickness, then moderate, fine carbonation tingle kicks in.
Overall, enjoyable and worthwhile, still with plenty of coffee flavor , even at seven months old. I'd like to try it fresher, and will do so if I encounter it again.

Pours from a pint can with a half-finger of nice crema. Very earthy notes on the coffee, balanced with a hint of milk chocolate, good malt flavors on the midpalate from the base stout. Quite expressive flavors for a 6% ABV offering, well balanced and smooth.

its been too long since i had a new beer from middle ages, i really liked this one, served on nitro. it uses local coffee, which must be pretty good, this is deeply roasty, less nuanced maybe from the coffee than some of the more espresso forward beers in this style, but i like the robustness, the deep roast, the earthiness, and the hints of deep cocoa and warming pipe tobacco, its very winter without being enormously alcoholic, which i think is a great success and increasingly rare in this style unfortunately. near black in color, a matte coal look to it, creamy tan head, perfect for a beer mustache. there is some bitterness from the coffee with the dark barley which is nice, really adds a lot of depth, and not just in the finish but all the way through it. on top of that, there is almost no acidity from it, as intense as it is, its smooth, mellowed by a rich cocoa malt complexion and the creaminess of the body, but this leaps over a potential problem remarkably, maybe some cold brewed java added post fermentation? not sure how this is made, but it was very good, exceeded expectations, and was definitely the perfect chilly dark winter afternoon quaff! yum.
