On tap at the Prado location in December 2015.

Pours dark mahogany in color with a decent head that leaves almost no lacing.

The aroma mostly reflects the bourbon and bourbon barrel aging. This is not a bad thing, especially with Heaven Hill involved.

Flavor: very mildly bitter.

Mouthfeel: soft and smooth, with warming but almost no heat from the high (~ 9.5%) ABV. Light carbonation with a medium body.

O: Boozy in an enjoyable way. Highly recommended for fans of this style.

Strong aroma has woody and subtle malty notes and a hint of caramel. It pours a warm opaque chocolaty brown with a thick pale tan head that leaves behind some good lacing. Flavor is quite tasty - fruity, malty, caramel and woody notes with hints of honey and horehound. Firm-bodied fizzy texture leaves a nice malty, fruity, slightly sweet and rather tingly finish. Happy Holidays, whatever you choose to celebrate this time of year!

On-tap at the brewpub. I'm fairly certain this is the Kiltlifter Scotch Ale aged in Heaven Hill barrels.

Pours a hazy golden-brown color with a half-finger cream-colored head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of smooth caramel malts with hints of toastiness. Also present are large amounts of vanilla and smaller amounts of toffee.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Sticky dark caramel malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by solid amounts of robust vanilla and toffee flavors. Small amounts of light chocolate flavors and darker toasted and roasted malts make an appearance midway through the sip. The chocolate, vanilla, and caramel malt flavors carry through to a mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall I was happy to see this on-tap during my visit as every beer I've had that has used Heaven Hill barrels has been great. A very good beer that's well worth a shot if you see it around.
