Day 16 Seasons Greetings
To brew a beer up to true Belgian standards takes some elbow grease , flexing some 'we can do it' muscle , this Belgian strong ale is big flavoured with dried fruit and spicy esters along side a smooth and warming mouthfeel.

Central City Brewers 'RR Belgian Strong' @ 11.2% , served from a 330 ml bottle Day 16 Seasons Greetings
A-pour is brown/amber from the bottle to a mahogany in the glass with a small beige head leaving a streaky lace along the goblet
S-Belgian yeast , hints of caramel
T-big & strong , smokey
MF-ok carbonation , big full body of beer , smokeyness lingers
Ov-wouldn't mind trying this beer with some age added to it

This is actually quite good. I'd like to try it bottle-conditioned with some age on it, and I'm sure it would run with the best. Hmmm.... actually I see some yeast, so maybe it could just use some time?
Deep ruby brown with a light tan head, no retention, but it shows some leg.
Aroma of spicy figgy pudding.
Taste is a bit boozy, but it's not nearly as hot as a fresh Rochefort 10. Lots of sherry, some caramel sweetness, figs, golden raisins, brown sugar, hints of roasted nut. Light bitterness in the background of a sweet alcohol balance.
Moderate body has a light residual sweetness and a drying alcohol finish.

330ml bottle, day 16 of the 2016 Seasons Greetings holiday mixer from Parallel 49 and Central City - wow, it's been quite warm, ABV-wise, in these advent calendars the past few days, and now this!
This beer pours a clear, bright medium red-brick brown colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and sort of fizzy tan head, which leaves but a few instances of ocean plume lace around the glass as it quickly subsides.
It smells of bready caramel malt, spicy Belgian yeast, some red vinous grapiness, faint earthy spices, cola syrup, further bing cherry and plum fruity notes, and a low-key weedy, leafy, and gently perfumed floral green hoppiness. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, a touch of biscuity toffee, mixed red and white wine esters, a much lessened Low Countries yeastiness, thin store brand cola, brown sugar, more cherry, plum, and raisin fruitiness, and some plain earthy, leafy, and dead floral hops.
The carbonation is fairly active in its swirling and prodding frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and sort of smooth, as the yeast and the hovering booziness take their ounce or two of flesh here. It finishes off-dry, but not nearly as sweet as one might have been expecting - nicely moderated by yeast, fruit, hop, and wowee sauce alike.
Overall, this is an agreeable enough version of one my favourite (non-hoppy) styles - however, it does lack some of the fullness of the better Old World offerings. At any rate, easy to drink, in spite of the north of 22-proof alcohol measure, and a worthy Advent, er, I mean 'Seasons Greetings' entry.
