This dark Irish stout is deep, dark, smooth, and creamy. The use of oatmeal in the mashtun adds a silkiness to the texture and body of this ale.

-dark and with a light brown head looks promising,
-smell is of roasted barely and oats light coco scent
- way to watered down for a oatmeal stout, the flavors are there but much to mild
- feel is to thin and not chewy enough for this style
-overall a little disappointing with this beer...

22oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Branded "Red Betty Oatmeal Stout" here in the States.
A: Black on the pour with garnet hues. Large-bubbled tan head retains at a half inch. Thin, broken rings of lacing.
S: Deep roast and hints of brownie batter. Charcoal. Mocha. Roasty grain. Oaty earthiness. Floral hops. Touch of vague berry fruit.
T: Deeply roasty. Char, soot. Acrid. French roast coffee. Fudge and brownie batter underneath. Earthy and oaty. Some yeast. Slight acidic twang with some vague fruitiness. Steely. Brief oily and floral hop interjection. Roasty and smokey finish.
M: Medium body. Creamy and smooth texture. Sharp carbonation. Some roasted malt astringency.
O: The heavy layers of roasted malts get challenging at times, but it stays far within the realm of drinkability. It's even quaffable if you're in the right mood.

This neat new-ish beer from Bear Republic... oh right that's a different brewery... really guys, they had to change their name because of you!!! Bear Republic, it's breweries like you that make me sick.
A nice beer to drink during a blizzard, unfortunately no date on the bottle, but should be pretty fresh.
Pours a nice thick creamy 1+ finger off-white almost tan head that fades semi slowly with tons of lacing, the glass is just covered in lacing, over a very dark black beer with a little mahogany light sneaking through.
Nose is pretty nice, but a bit on the lighter side, plenty of nice oats, creamy oats, a nice toasty nutty brown malt, with a bit of toasty caramel and nutty toffee, a nice candy bar like note with a mild milk chocolate in the background as well, the caramel really ramps and it starts to get a big caramel nutty brown ale milky way candy bar like.
Taste brings more malts and oats, creamy and toasty oats with a little fudgey cocoa and milk chocolate, mixing with the mild roasty like malt note. PLenty of caramel again, nutty brown malts with a touch of biscuit and plenty of toasted flavors, a little fluffy nougat, and big candy bar caramel and caramelized toasted roasted malts. Hops kick in late, some grassy and mildly spicy hop notes, turning a little spicy on the finish, a little sticky and creamy on the finish, bit more dark chocolate and creamy oats, and more caramel lingering with the bitter spicy grassy hops.
Mouth is med bod, nice creamy oats but a bit thin for what I was expecting, decent carb.
Overall nice, good oats, lots of caramel a bit morethan I expected, nice creamy feel, good candy bar notes without being too sweet, I like the bitter kick on the back end, pretty enjoyable to sip through the afternoon of the storm.

Mmmm...roasted (burnt) malt flavors dominate the scene in this Central City offering. Makes me think of dark roast Java Jive when I was an undergrad at the U of A in Edmonton - it's a bit harsh, but the harshness helps make it attractive. As far as 650 mL bombers go, this is a steal of a deal - picked it up for $5 at my favorite local bottle shop. This is a stout with Irish tendencies - charred like a car bombing and not afraid to kick yer teeth in.

330ml bottle poured into tulip 29/11/14
A the darkest cola with a faint maroon glow when held to the light, two fingers of mocha foam has decent retention slowly falling to a thick film coating the side of my glass with spider web lace
S coco powder, earthy notes, char, leafy hops, chocolate milk, and a hint of sweetened coffee
T the roast is a little burnt but it doesn't hinder, some hops shining through all the dark malt, lots of earthy notes, decent flavor for a 4.2% stout
M light bodied but has enough bubbles to fluff it up a bit, just the right amount of bitter, even a little citrus on the finish with some burnt malt
O not a bad little session stout, a fair amount of flavor and well rounded stuff
I thought I already reviewed this one and didn't care for it, I wonder about my memory I'll say that much, worth a try for sure still lots of hops in this fresh bottle
