Aged 2 years in french oak. Made with peaches.
Appearance - Pours a copper red with a finger of head.
Smell - oak, vanilla, white wine barrel, white grape musk, hint of peach, earthy and leafy hops, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - oak, vanilla, white wine barrel, white grape musk. The peach is lost in translation with the bold barrel notes. The earthy and leafy hops are quite muted as well as as the bready malts and earthy yeast.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the barrel, oak, and vanilla lingering.
Overall - A bold brew that is heavily dominated by the barrel elements. All other ingredients are lost in translation. It's a shame as I was hoping to get the peach flavours to stand out with the barrel elements but nonetheless this brew is just the barrel elements through and through. This one needs to go back to the drawing board and the recipe should be revamped. Really disappointing.
