Big, malty, and brewed to keep you warm through the long dark days of a west coast winter. This complex amber ale has vanilla and maple syrup undertones, with a warm, spicy finish. Best enjoyed when only partially chilled.

From the 2016 Central City/Parallel 49 Advent calendar. Must be a variation of the original as the label says 6.0%. Great look but the smell and taste are not really up my alley. This smells and tastes like bloody caesar, interesting. The hop might have had better days, this was bottled on August 29 2016.

Can from wordemupg, 355ml can into a tulip. Dated K1011, presumable October 10, 2011.

Reddish-irange, with some browner leanings. Loose, billowing tan head, several pours required to get this into the glass. Nose is bready, light spice and some hop character. Light brown sugar perhaps, and a bit of licorice and bruised apple. Taste again, malty, bready, some sugary and spice character gentle bitterness and some herbal hop character. Medium feel, medium low carbonation. A pretty good winter ale, needs to get to room temp. to really open up.

355ml can poured into pint glass 24/1/12

A clear amber with a few bubbles feeding a light tan head that hangs around for a few leaving just some tiny dots of lace

S leafy hops with some licorice and fennel, vannilla, faint booze and a little spice

T a little citric hops peeks through all the malt adding to what I smell, spcie is mild and the booze I smell is gone, well done

M could use a few more bubbles but still far from flat, a little bitter and sticky

O soild winter warmer with a nice balance with all the hops keeping the malt in check, or maybe its the other way around

this one could hurt you if you let it, easy too drink and very tasty

Part of a mixed pack that my uncle brought for me when visiting.

Poured from a 355ml. can, canned Nov. 10, 2011 (Lot K1011).

Appearance: A beautiful red-amber body with tons of tiny bubbles peppering the body. Massive head that just sits there and takes its good old time to wind down.

Smell: Sharp spices, cinnamon with some cloves. Some cardamom maybe but not sure. Very nice.

Taste: Some cinnamon, more spices, fruit cake and gingerbread. The constant flow of different spices is really nice.

Mouthfeel: Malt rolls off the tongue, warming. Spices add a bit of herb bitterness. Some creaminess as it warms.

Overall: This has all the right ingredients for a winter warmer. Nailing the style with a balance of malt, light hops and enough spices to keep it interesting without being a mess. One if their best.
