Malthus Birolla from Birrificio di Como aged in barrels of Belgian Owl whiskey, a project of Connecticut-based B. United International.
An interesting project... a chestnut-honey ale turns into a tart, complex brew with peaty aromas, half between a barleywine and a true sour. Dark fruit, sweetness, vinous aromas and a touch of barrel. Unique, odd, drinkable, enjoyable.
I had it on tap at Memphis Taproom in Philadelphia.
