Appearance- Pours a golden/orange/apricot body, unusually clear for a hefe. The head was small and tight and left little lacing.
Smell- Smell was quite subdued. What little aroma there was had enticing hints of wheat, banana, and clove.
Taste- Again, subdued, but very pleasant wheatiness. Hints of clove, and honey come through the taste. Maybe a hint of citrus to.
Mouthfeel: A bit thin, and not nearly as dry as most what beers. Nicely carbonated tho.
Drinkability: Very easy drinking.

Max Hefe Weizen. ABV 5.0%
I was on foot in HotLanta on Saturday August 4th. It was ridiculously hot and I was in suit and tie. When I walked in the door I asked for a Glass of water and do you have a Hefe Weizen on tap. I wanted the first beer of the afternoon to be a gentle easy drinking beer. That it was. Frills, no. Drinkable, yes!
Presentation. It was served in a standard pint glass. I guess I should expect that from a small family owned brewpub but a bigger glass or just a Weizen glass could have showed off some more head. No big deal. just a comment.
Appearance: Pours a golden orange color with very little space left for a small one finger head, and then absolutely loads of lacing plastered on the walls of the glass.
Smell: It has a light biscuit malt aroma with a hint of banana bread somewhere in there, a dash of clove and a drop of vanilla but all quite reserved.
Taste: The taste is not very big either but it is pleasant. It has a light orange peel attribute clove and cinnamon and coriander with a little indistinct fruit and malt.
Mouthfeel: The beer seems thin in flavor and body but not too much so. It is crisp and dry. The body is just a bit too thin IMO but it dosn't hurt the drinkability.
Drinkability: This is easy drinking refreshment if ever there was. It really hit the spot and had I not needed to return to work late in the eavening, I would have enjoyed a few at least.

It was very hot (surprise) when I visited Atlanta this week. Perfect weather for a hefe!
Maxs version was an opaque straw color with a fairly dense head.
The nose was bit underpowered. The smell was of washed out malts. Extremely low spice and banana notes.
The taste was also a bit lacking. There is some crispness from the malts, but the beer is almost devoid of hefe characteristics. It needs clove and banana flavors to be much more assertive.
The mouth is fine, but drinkabilty suffers from the beers shortcomings.

This was an extremely pale hefeweizen, but it was nicely cloudy. The head was a bit wimpy which I consider a flaw for the style. The aroma was mostly clove and very little banana. The wheat hit you up front followed by more of the clove. The body lacks the creaminess that a good hefeweizen has. Still, I've had much worse attempts at the style and it was exceedingly drinkable.
